http://therunyonfam.blogspot.com/2011/08/waiting-on-hannah-jane.html
Friday, August 5, 2011. Waiting on Hannah Jane. What a summer to remember! As you will see (and as many know) . these past few months have been so crazy. I'm not even sure where to start. I apologize for not updating in so long; however,. The following pics are of Isabella playing in our first back yard on our last night all together in the house. Above is Isabella telling Brad and I to "put your bubble up" . something she learned at school when the teachers want them to listen. She did not appre...Below...

Other Pieces of Me: The Ladybug Turns One!!!
http://www.otherpiecesofme.com/2012/12/the-ladybug-turns-one.html
Monday, December 10, 2012. The Ladybug Turns One! Ladybug turned one in late October. I know it is such a cliché to say this, but holy heck did THAT go fast! The day of her birthday was gorgeous and we had good friends and family come over to help us celebrate. And because nothing is ever simple in our lives, we also scheduled our two cords of firewood to be delivered that day AND our winter CSA pick up was during the party. At least the wood delivery provided entertainment for the masses. Little G and f...

Other Pieces of Me: May 2013
http://www.otherpiecesofme.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 10, 2013. How come it is so easy for me? How could I possibly ever know what she is going through? She doesn't even know me, but she is resentful of me and my ease. The woman quickly glances around between swings and jabs at her cheeks as she hefts the overwhelmed boy away. She is looking for someone. Another mother, perhaps. Someone who will be looking back at her knowingly. She doesn't find her, but she moves forward into the evening faithful that she will meet her someday. I am a writer.

Other Pieces of Me: Summer's Best Two Weeks - week one
http://www.otherpiecesofme.com/2012/11/summers-best-two-weeks-week-one.html
Monday, November 19, 2012. Summer's Best Two Weeks - week one. So let's go back again. Back to the summer. I wanted to write about this as it was happening as it was truly magical, but we were so busy and life was so full, that there was just no time to even comprehend all of it, no less write about it. But let me start at the beginning. So, I defaulted to the plan I always make when faced with such a dilemma and I made sure we got out of the house every day.and when I say get out, I mean we got OUT!

Other Pieces of Me: Kindness Matters: A Conversation
http://www.otherpiecesofme.com/2012/12/kindness-matters-conversation.html
Thursday, December 20, 2012. Kindness Matters: A Conversation. A well-dressed, older businessman seated at the door into the car touches my arm and says brusquely, "this is the quiet car.". I respond, "I know". A few months ago they designated the car closest to the engine a quiet car. Passengers are asked to silence cell phones, speak in hushed voices and turn down the volume on electronic devices. The man is persistant, "you can not be here". Him on the platform. He. I ask him if he'd like a granola ba...

Other Pieces of Me: A Monday Return
http://www.otherpiecesofme.com/2012/12/a-monday-return.html
Monday, December 17, 2012. I drove Little G to school today like I do every day. Tires splashing through rain. Late autumn darkness shadowing the roads. We spoke to Little G at dinner on Saturday. He is so young, but he listens. He hears. He understands. I drove Little G to school today like I do every day. Radio tuned to Christmas music. A beloved toy for entertainment. He listens. He hears. He understands. I think the parent will share something fun, Little G. But if you hear something scary today,...

Other Pieces of Me: Occupy Our Street
http://www.otherpiecesofme.com/2012/11/occupy-our-street.html
Monday, November 26, 2012. Last week I told you all about the last two weeks of summer. Looking back, I can honestly say it was a magical two weeks. Oh there were lots of tantrums and other blips, but all around, we had a great time chasing the sun every day and I can actually say I am looking forward to doing it all again next summer, too. Low and behold, my former roommate, 'Laura' and her husband, Grins Quietly, had a tent they could use and we had a back yard. Little G's tent went up quickly! Technic...

Other Pieces of Me: March 2013
http://www.otherpiecesofme.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 06, 2013. There are all sorts of books and manipulatives and toys in the waiting area of an office I visit weekly with Little G. One such book is Fill a Bucket: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Young Children. The inside of the flap says: The concept of a full bucket is an effective metaphor for a child's healthy self-concept and happiness, most often the result of the encouraging words and actions of parents and others who help a child know they are loved, valued, and capable. SoWhat Else...
