Ben Candlin - Adventurous Gardens: Social Media - Aroids on Pinterest
http://bencandlin.blogspot.com/2014/05/social-media-aroids-on-pinterest.html
Thursday, May 8, 2014. Social Media - Aroids on Pinterest. Just a quick heads up to say that I have just signed up to Pinterest. For anyone not familiar with the site, it's a kind of virtual photo noticeboard which allows the user to 'pin' images to their personal page. I thought it might be a nice way to spread the word about the Arisaema and other aroids that are growing here. I have today added over 35 photos to the site, and have just about had enough of messing around with photos for one day!

Ben Candlin - Adventurous Gardens: June 2012
http://bencandlin.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 1, 2012. Just a little bit of Wisteria. Right now my head is brimming over with plants, ideas and inspiration. You see, last weekend I spent three excellent days down in Cornwall visiting some amazing gardens. Oh, how I wish for such a climate! I can't wait to go back! Of course, I took the time to pop into one or two nurseries whilst there and came back with a few new plants of my own to shoehorn into my small garden! Adventurous Gardens - Ben Candlin. Ben Candlin - Adventurous Gardens: Arisaema engleri
http://bencandlin.blogspot.com/2014/05/arisaema-engleri.html
Thursday, May 1, 2014. Just before Christmas, I bought a new camera - a swanky Canon 600D. For too long I had been frustrated by the limitations of various point and shoot cameras I'd tried in the past. Whilst being fine for general use, they just won't capable of taking the kind of photos I had been wanting. In the warm evening light. Adventurous Gardens - Ben Candlin. Ben Candlin - Adventurous Gardens: December 2012
http://bencandlin.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 21, 2012. 21st December. A cure for SAD! 21st December. I must confess that I love this date! Fatsia japonica 'variegata'. This poor plant has it's roots in standing water. Whilst Woodbury and the surrounding villages have thankfully been spared the terrible flooding that other areas of Devon and Cornwall have suffered this autumn, the streams have been in impressive flow. As have the roads! Some winter sun would not go amiss right now to dry things out a little! Links to this post.

Ben Candlin - Adventurous Gardens: April 2012
http://bencandlin.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 20, 2012. It's been rather wet here this week and I've got soaked more times than I care to mention. Earlier today was no exception - heavy squally showers with a healthy dose of hail thrown in for good measure. A lovely day for being a gardener! As an example, today I snapped a couple of photos of Fatsia japonica. The newly emerging leaves reminded me of 'praying hands'. Perhaps they were praying for better weather! A cluster of new leaves on Fatsia japonica. Praying for better weather!

Ben Candlin - Adventurous Gardens: April 2014

Saturday, April 26, 2014. This blog originally germinated back in 2010. Like a seed bursting into life, it's fragile shoot slowly developed with each post. Then came neglect from the gardener. The posts faded away, and the shoot withered and died. Gardeners often have good intentions, but good intentions are nothing without action. And so it proved in this case. Ben Candlin - Adventurous Gardens: May 2012

Tuesday, May 15, 2012. If you ever needed a reminder that you should always plant Phylostachys. Bamboos with a rhizome barrier, just take a look at this photo I snapped whilst working in a clients garden last week! Running rhizomes from Phylostachys. Use a rhizome barrier! At this point, I'll quickly add that this was not planted by me! Adventurous Gardens - Ben Candlin. Links to this post. Thursday, May 3, 2012. Gardening the lazy way. That's my kind of gardening! Here's a cool looking plant - Arisaema ...

Ben Candlin - Adventurous Gardens: January 2013
http://bencandlin.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 29, 2013. I've just been sorting through a couple of boxes of assorted aroid tubers - I tend to store many of them completely dry and out of their pots whilst dormant. There is less risk of rotting that way and it saves a load of space! It was nice to see that one or two are showing signs of life, hopefully signalling a promising start to the coming growing season. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing what this large Taccarum weddellianum. Adventurous Gardens - Ben Candlin. This is...

Ben Candlin - Adventurous Gardens: March 2015
http://bencandlin.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Arisaema is a large genus containing many superb plants. Some are widely grown whilst others are very rare in cultivation and infrequently seen. For years, Arisaema murrayi. Most definitely fell into the latter category. It is a stunningly beautiful plant, and yet frustratingly, did not appear to be in cultivation and was impossible to source. Thankfully the situation is slowly changing and now Arisaema murrayi. Grows in the Western Ghats - a long mountain range running along t...
