Most of the bears I make are commissioned, and sent to new homes all over the world. But if I do have some spare time, I make one off collectors' bears for immediate sale. What is a Bear Artist? What is a traditional bear? This is why we have to sell them for collectors only. Modern regulations mean they can not be sold for children to play with, even though you and I (are you that old? May have happily played with one as babies. I can get the same look with a bear made for children, by replacing the joints and eyes with plastic ones, then filling with a softer acrylic fibre and/or acrylic 'beans'. Caring for your bears. Welcome to the Benebear site. Traditional teddy bears designed and hand made by Mary Tornabene. I love crafts of all kinds but my one enduring passion from childhood is for teddy bears. I have been creating individual and unique bears since 1974, using only the finest materials and traditional methods. Most of my bears are made as commissioned unique bears and are not sold in shops or made in bulk batches. If time allows I do make the odd bear for immediate sale, but time does not often allow!
