The Benenden Amenity and Countryside Society was set up by Jonathon Strong and others in 1989. The current Chairman is Peter Ellis. The Society has two principal objectives, namely:. To encourage amenity and countryside activities and interest in order to promote a fuller appreciation of the geography, history, natural history and environment of the Parish and the Weald of Kent. To resist any proposals (ie, planning applications) which would adversely affect the environment and amenities of the Parish.

The displays of flowers depicted various aspects of the parish's activities during the millennium celebrations. The lych gate was decorated in Benenden cricket club colours. The splendid tapestry reflected many aspects of the village in this millennium year. The chancel and the altar had a musical theme in view of the concert held here on Saturday 26th August. The Lady Chapel was resplendent in flowers and perfumes that are a firm favourite with local bees (and beekeepers!
