http://johnskayak.blogspot.com/2014/08/river-of-god-kayak-kamp-day-4-5.html
This is an account of my boat- building and paddling adventures. Friday, August 22, 2014. River of God Kayak Kamp: Day 4 and 5. The Hackensack River is pretty "big" water and can get quite rough if the wind picks up and wind and tide collide. After lunch Mr. Angelo of the Meadowlands Commission spoke to the kids and allowed them to go swimming off the dock. We ended the day with Ice Cream at Guernsey Crest. A few kids floated away but those in kayaks towed them back. Fun was had by all. Our group for tod...

This is an account of my boat- building and paddling adventures. Sunday, June 16, 2013. Last night we were out paddling again on the Passaic River. It was really still high from the rain but it gave the boys good experience with paddling against the current and finding eddies where there was less current. Brother Rick Rodriguez assisted Eric and I in supervising the boys in the higher current. We reviewed all of our safety protocols and headed out. All together in a "float". John A. Algera. We paddled do...

John's Kayak: March 2012
http://johnskayak.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
This is an account of my boat- building and paddling adventures. Monday, March 26, 2012. Seats and Thwart and Yoke. This past week I worked on setting the seats and thwart in place. I decided to recess the seat carriage bolts so they would not be seen. Therefore I reinforced the inwall under it with an extra 1/2" piece as you can see. This should provide plenty of support. Canoe Craft. Today I spent doing all the final sanding of the gunnels, thwart, yoke, seats and cleaning up the entire basement. Last ...

http://algera.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 6, 2009. Posted by Emily at 8:18 PM. Sara and David took a bath together tonight. Sara didn't want a bath, but we persuaded her to jump in with Dave. Much laughing and splashing and cuteness occurred. I can't seem to get much of a story together tonight, so here are some highlights of the past few days. On Wednesday we drove down to the beach to watch the sailboats race. They were inshore on Lake Macatawa so we got a good close view. Sara and David loved it. The kids are snuggled in bed on...

The Algeras: January 2009
http://algera.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 24, 2009. Posted by Emily at 7:33 PM. We're having a fun weekend in frigid Traverse City! Ben ran the Bigfoot Boogie snowshoe race this morning in below zero windchills. I decided to keep my sleepy, sneezy and teething children inside instead of being a spectator. He finished in 1:13:57, fourth place in the 30-35 age group and good enough to win an official Bigfoot Boogie coffee mug! To all our running friends - who wants to join in next year? I brought my bathing suit! In the afternoon...

http://algera.blogspot.com/2009/05/go-fly-kite.html
Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Go fly a kite. Posted by Emily at 8:22 PM. It felt like mid summer here today! We took advantage of the great weather for a trip to the beach after Ben got home. We had a picnic dinner which Sara loved. "We are having a picnic! It's the best way to have dinner! Then we went to watch the boats and fly Sara's kite on the beach along the channel. There were plenty of boats for Sara to wave at and Dave seemed to have fun discovering sand. Sara ran around wearing herself out. Sara: Fr...
