UPDATE 12/15/2014 – PLEASE READ THROUGH TO THE END*. I learned later that the phenomenon we experienced is so prevalent, it has it’s own name: Vanagon Hot Foot Syndrome. I’ve been doing some research on deadening the sound (and heat) and settled on a product used by the Boom Car Kids to kick their bass up a notch or three. Made by FatMat, the Rattle Trap. Product is affordable and easy to apply with no special tools or know-how. Just my style. Firewall under bench seat, with booster heater and Subaru ECU on the right side of the photo.
