Three things to share every day.
Now's the time: March 2014
http://bestofnow.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Three things to share every day. Sunday, March 09, 2014. Close up, frailty and tomatoes. Cheerfulness is my chief object in life even when it seems to be a fleeting virtue. I find myself hoping that people will make allowances for its present frailty. Friday, March 07, 2014. Story, sunshine and fiction. Every window has a story. About the build up to World War 1. It strikes me as ordering and explaining the facts better than the pages of history I have just been reading. Two more episodes to go&#...Dr Wa...
Now's the time: Door, study and danger
http://bestofnow.blogspot.com/2014/03/door-study-and-danger.html
Three things to share every day. Sunday, March 02, 2014. Door, study and danger. Door in Sitges from the archives. The room where I spend most of my time at the moment I call my study. For a good many reasons I discourage people from referring to it as a office. The function of every office which I used is quite different. Perhaps because moving around is a problem for me at the moment I am increasingly attracted by the current sport - called I think parcour -. Is it really called parcours. A student who...
Now's the time: Singer, tamarind and daphne
http://bestofnow.blogspot.com/2014/02/singer-tamarind-and-daphne.html
Three things to share every day. Thursday, February 27, 2014. Singer, tamarind and daphne. Mackerel and coconut curry. An ingredient which I have not used until now is tamarind paste. I had not associated mackerel with India, but it substitutes well I suspect for an equivalent in Indian waters. Thank you Anjum Ansand for another new experience. A spray of daphne placed on fireplace in front of a mirror keeps catching my eye. It looks Japanese, a pleasing sight, all day. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Now's the time: June 2013
http://bestofnow.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Three things to share every day. Sunday, June 30, 2013. Swimmers, woundwort, reading and drinking. Ducks on the Medway. On a bench in the sun a lean, grey haired man is reading a paper back. He sips a can of beer. As I pass I notice a blue plastic bag at his feet. In it are six tall cans for steady consumption I suppose in the course of the afternoon. His apparent contentment is something I understand. Saturday, June 29, 2013. Digitalis, notebook and gymnastics. Friday, June 28, 2013. Eight years ago in ...

Tunbridge Wells Tells: Living in the Village
http://tunbridgewellstells.blogspot.com/2005/06/living-in-village.html
Living in the Village. Mount Sion also gets a mention in. Still Life, Sketches from a Tunbridge Wells Childhood. What will future generations have to be nostalgic about? Perhaps the chip-shop smell which hangs over the streets on still evenings. Or the scarcity of parking places, which accounts for the number of times you see the same drivers on their second or third turn round the block. Or the foxes which come out at night trying to solve the problem of how to get into wheely bins. Link to me @ 6:48 pm.

Meanwhile, back in the holler. Friday, March 30, 2007. This is gonna be the year for paw paws! The trees are loaded with many, many blooms to the branch. This color is so mysterious and lovely to me, I have tried to duplicate in dying yarn, with no luck. Maybe I can try making paw paw wine this year! Tuesday, March 27, 2007. Meanwhile, back in the holler. Monday, April 30, 2007. When I visit Cynthia Mead's. Site (oh yea, I am not even worthy to visit her photographs! I often consider just giving up on photographing birds, till I remind myself that it is not my calling, it is my comfort. Does not this tree swallow look like batmans costume was patterned after him? In rest, they look just like they fly (if that makes any sense) I did not realize how irridescent blue they were. Friday, April 27, 2007. Despite my searching, it w...
Meanwhile, back in the holler: Political Poo Poo
http://intheholler.blogspot.com/2008/09/political-poo-poo.html
Meanwhile, back in the holler. Sunday, September 21, 2008. I am heartsick and I could go on about it. I have a lot to say about the sorry-assed state of our. Controllers, but because I do have so much to say, I won't. I'll just leave it to the innovative musical duo Timbuk3. Who said it all in these lyrics from their seminal album Greetings from Timbuk 3 (a must listen from the last century, if you don't own it already). Presidential elections are planned distractions. Meanwhile, back in the holler. Sunday, September 21, 2008. Paw Paw Poo Poo. Old timey gardeners I have known where often heard to say I like them McCaslin beans (or viney tomaters, or sally sweet corn or which-ever suiting variety) cause they don't come in all ta once Well, yep, that's a good thing, to spread out your harvest like that. This has been a tall cotton year for paw paws (and just about every other fruit and nut crop, least until the drought fell upon us again, but I will save whining about t...
Little Voices: Mike Mulligan
http://littlektvoices.blogspot.com/2011/06/mike-mulligan.html
Five in a Row. Tuesday, June 07, 2011. Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel. This was the first time we repeated an author, Virginia Lee Burton. I was slightly not looking forward to this book because, you know, steam shovels didn't sound that interesting to me. But one of the reasons I chose this book was because I needed to use a Mamapedia. The kids didn't have a concept of what a steam shovel is, so I checked out a book about backhoes from the library (T already knew all about. I really liked the. But t...

About turning the compost. The compost also rises. July 1, 2011 · 11:02 am. Three days of rain. But I do have a strong childhood memory of mum weeding clover by hand out of the lawn when I was eight or nine. I had no idea why this was so important to her, but as I perch on my haunches picking crossly at these two invaders, I remember her in exactly this pose, absorbed in removing clover piece by piece. The compost also rises. 2 responses to “. Three days of rain. July 20, 2011 at 4:25 am. I hear you....
