Beth Camp: On the Road

Beth Camp: On the Road. Saturday, January 21, 2017. Week 3: From rainy Eureka to Mojave. I'd like to say we left winter behind. As we drove south from Eureka. But we didn't. Intense rain storms with lots of wind led to some adventuresome driving along the Oregon and California coast. We stopped in Sebastapol to visit dear cousins and enjoy an Italian feast at the Union Hotel. In Occidental - Imagine ravioli that melt in your mouth! Flowers at Ovallartas Grocery Store. Beth Camp: On the Road : 06/01/2014 - 07/01/2014

Beth Camp: On the Road. Friday, June 20, 2014. West to Fort Nisqually. . . Guard Tower with fireweed (2013). Fort Nisqually here in Washington is a living history museum. But once it was a trading post for the Hudson's Bay Company, and part of the setting for the next book I'm just beginning to research. Here we can wander, imagining what life was like back in 1850, when we could tell how close we are to the end of summer by how many blossoms yet appear on that hardy wildflower, Fireweed. Even speckled c...

Beth Camp: On the Road. Saturday, August 30, 2014. North to Cape Breton . . . When I visited Novia Scotia back in 2003, on a leisurely trip along the coast, I never thought I'd want to return for historical reasons. But this year's travel plans may well take us back to Canada, perhaps as far east as Novia Scotia, to research those intrepid Scots who immigrated here in mid-19th Century, leaving behind famine, evictions, and the potato blight. Also at Cape Breton Highlands National Park, we came across thi...

Beth Camp: On the Road : Monday in Galveston . . .

http://bethcamp.blogspot.com/2015/02/monday-in-galveston.html

Beth Camp: On the Road. Monday, February 09, 2015. Monday in Galveston . . . Today we went to lunch at the Tortuga, a sprawling Mexican restaurant, right on Seawall Boulevard, just about a block from our tiny condo. A delicious avocado stuffed with shrimp, fish, broiled vegetables with three kinds of salsa met our appetite delightfully. Even at 1pm, we hit happy hour! A nice draft beer with lime for 99c topped the meal. The music in the background? Tortuga Restaurant from the Bay. Click to visit Amazon.

Beth Camp: On the Road. Saturday, February 21, 2015. Walking around Galveston's Historic District. Yesterday, we walked our feet off after quite an exciting bus ride up to the Pleasure Pier on 25th Street and Seawall where we peeked through the gates at the rides (closed for the day). Beth Camp: On the Road : Nearly the last day in Galveston

http://bethcamp.blogspot.com/2015/02/nearly-last-day-in-galveston.html

Beth Camp: On the Road. Friday, February 27, 2015. Nearly the last day in Galveston. Yesterday we took the ferry over to Bolivar Island. The free ferry from Galveston to Bolivar Island was a model of tiny efficiency as we crossed this busy port's lane of barges and tugboats, followed by black-headed seagulls sparring for bread tossed by seasoned travellers. We were going birding. Roseate Spoonbill, Bolivar Island (February 2015). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Click for e-book available now. Click t...
