Welcome to Year 3. June 26, 2015. These these are our new favorite variety of radishes – Pink Punch. They have a nice mild flavor and are a fun hot pink color. We’ve been without radishes here for a few weeks now so I just planted another 4′ row of them today, along with a bunch of Little Finger carrots since we seem to be going through those like crazy too! Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Prairiewind caught this one in flight, and shot the majority of the photos. There have been some geese and ducks making their way south as well and stopping over at the pond for the night, like this small flock of Blue Winged Teal. I reconnected with some friends that I've known for 30 years who are currently raising their 6 (! I will definitely have to do something about the paint on the rear though. LOL. Friday, November 21, 2014. A single-wide mobile home doesn't exactly have a ton of space, and the storage shed freezes in the winter. The best solution I could come up with quickly was in the back hall/laundry area. It makes it a bit tighter getting to the washer and dryer, or out the back door, but the dryer door still opens completely and with the two big dogs gone I rarely use the back door. Thursday, January 15, 2015. Today I made a trip into town to mail off my estimated tax payments. I also stopped at the little neighborhood grocery store where I buy my dog food. This particular store has an outstanding meat department, and they are willing to order anything a person wants. For 30 years I have fed my dogs raw, meaning raw meat and bones. Monday, February 23, 2015. No worry, you can use it as a dog food dish. Maybe it's part of my hippie back-to-the-land reduce-reuse-recycle attitude. Whatever you do, clean your plate and don't waste food! Just because you see an ad for it on television or in a magazine doesn't mean you will be less of a person if you don't go out and mortgage your soul to buy one. That the land is kept in the family? Saturday, September 28, 2013. The swallows left and so did I. I suppose an update of sorts is in order, so here goes. The barn swallows left southwest Minnesota on September 15th. There was still a large number of them on the evening of the 14th, probably 150 or so, but the next day the wires were devoid of my feathered friends. Blogging Through My Grief
Blogging Through My Grief. And by 6 pm that night I was at my mom's side. After three days in the ICU it was determined that because of how long her brain had gone without oxygen, she likely wouldn't wake up. On September 5th we made the most difficult decision to let her go peacefully. It was something she had talked about so we were sure it was what she would have wanted us to do. My wonderful mother passed peacefully on September 6 at 6:10 am. She is already missed so much. A little less depressing.
