Bev's Bits n' Pieces: Robin Update #3
http://bevsbitsnpieces.blogspot.com/2011/06/robin-update-3.html
Bev's Bits n' Pieces. A place to share quilting, stitching, laughter and life. Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Lea sent me a note that Mrs. Robin decided to lay her eggs in nest #3. She thinks there are two eggs. Building two nests and refurbishing one seems like a lot of work for two eggs. It will be interesting to see if another pair of birds add to this little village of nests next year. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bev's Bits n' Pieces. A place to share quilting, stitching, laughter and life. Sunday, March 13, 2011. What I've Been Up To. It's not me as much as old Arthur(itis) in the fingers. Big templates are fine and by big I mean over 2". Yes, templates make cutting odd shapes easier and more accurate. The way the corners of the various pieces are trimmed really do make the process of fitting everything together much better. This is one of my favorite blocks. The black will be the background. Thanks Marina. ...

Bev's Bits n' Pieces: Thread Painting
http://bevsbitsnpieces.blogspot.com/2011/03/thread-painting.html
Bev's Bits n' Pieces. A place to share quilting, stitching, laughter and life. Wednesday, March 30, 2011. I wanted something really different for one of my little quilts. At our last Surface Design meeting, one of the demos was about free motion embroidery and how to make your own appliques using stabilizer and thread. I tried this once about 12-13 years ago with excellent results, but kind of forgot about how much fun it can be. What do you think? They're actually dried corn silk one of my friends gave ...
Bev's Bits n' Pieces: New Storage
http://bevsbitsnpieces.blogspot.com/2011/06/new-storage.html
Bev's Bits n' Pieces. A place to share quilting, stitching, laughter and life. Wednesday, June 22, 2011. I got rid of the old, bulky shelves in my sewing room. (Can't quite bring myself to call it a "studio") My son-in-law was here for a visit so I put him to work! The old tv has to go! Mr D suggested a new flat screen that will fit on the top shelf to right of the iron. Should fit perfect. For now I just have to move the old one out of the way. What a wonderful workspace! June 22, 2011 at 4:07 PM. I thi...

Saturday, September 29, 2012. A beautiful day trip to Kangaroo Island, another to The Barossa Valley.eating, eating! Also, everyone we met was friendly, and on numerous occasions, very helpful - got lost on the first night so it was very nice to know that people were eager to help.very nice impression. This week was spent dyeing, printing and preping fabric for projects. We have even sent off our first designs to be digitally printed via Spoonflower. Can't wait to receive them. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Have you tried gelatine printing? A small sample of my first efforts. I used netting from an onion bag for this detail. Top and bottom ring of a cone of overlocker thread for these. I think I may use the squares to make unique little phone cases as they can be matched with plain fabrics to really showcase the designs. One last show and tell. It's a little girl so pink was planned). I think she did a great job for a first effort. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Monday, August 22, 2011.

Monday, August 27, 2012. Got a chance to play with some fabric scraps this weekend. Mean't to start dyeing some white cotton drill that I had put aside for the purpose but somehow got side tracked. I did wash and iron the drill though, so I am one step closer to the dye pot. Making new fabric from strips of other beautiful commercial fabric is so much fun too. I had a pair of cushion inserts that had been sitting around looking sad.perfect! Hope you had a wonderful weekend too. Monday, August 27, 2012.

Mum wanted to take my sister, Holly and myself to Sydney for the Alexnder the Great Exhibition, and just spend some time together. Wednesday, May 23, 2012. My boy's came home today and brought their Cryovac machine with them.a big effort but appreciated as it is the best way I know of preserving and maturing my cheese. In went the cheddar and fetta and it worked a treat. Just have to find a wine fridge or similar with temp control as the cheese needs to be kept around 10 deg C. A lot of trouble for a couple of cheeses? Even though it is time consuming to make cheese, and bread etc, it is so much more satisfying to do it yourself.

Monday, October 3, 2011. Pattern draw and feathered friends. These little guys have been preening and posing for their photoshoot all day. The species I believe is "delectibilus exquisitis" very rare and only one of each kind in existence. These beautiful birds are now available exclusively from the Wattlebee shop. Made locally by a very talanted artisan and sold under the Karrot Juice label. Characteristics: Divine plumage and detail, light as a feather.sorry for the pun, and quirky stances.

Monday, July 18, 2011. On the go in July. Early July and our much awaited cooking class at the Spirit House, Yandina had arrived. The surroundings are lush and tropical. The perfect setting for a wonderful Asian (Thai in part) cooking experience. It was a fully hands on lesson and then lots of eating.yum! Something else that kept me busy was preparation for a Textile Workshop at school. It was a very big day but the students had lots of fun. For now, take care. Monday, July 18, 2011. Kaleidoscopes
Monday, January 9, 2012. We interrupt your blog reading for a public announcement. As you may have surmised from the increasing length of time between my blog posts- it's been hard for me to carve out time to blog recently. Like many women my age, I am finding that there are just not enough hours in the day to do everything I'd like to do. As a result of trying to keep up, I find I'm in a constant panic to cover all the bases with a decreasing energy level. Many thanks to all of you for your interest and...
