Beyond the Kerb: casebook. Monthly Archives: August 2015. Struck from behind by Ford Transit Connect van on A133. Suffered serious injuries from which she died later in the day. A 32 year old Clacton man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving (prior to the victim’s death) and bailed. Vehicles: van vs pedal cycle. Found at the roadside and died at the scene. No other vehicles believed to be involved. Vehicles: pedal cycle only. A coroner ruled a verdict of accidental death.

Beyond the Kerb: casebook. Monthly Archives: February 2014. Terry Brown (R v Rollason). Brown was struck from behind by Michael Rollason on Warrington Road, Bold Heath at around 0635 on 18 February 2014. It was dark at the time but the road was well lit, and Brown was equipped with a flashing red red light and a high-visibility jacket. Brown sustained multiple injuries from which he died in hospital later that day. His bike was split in two by the force of the impact and was found on the top of a hedge.

The intention is to include all cycling fatalities, plus as many other significant or interesting cases as possible. It replaces the previous Casebook. And records data in a more structured manner. This is something that will be built on in future. A small API is available. Annual cycling fatality lists. Plus a discussion of STATS19 discrepancies.

In particular Pc Mark Hodson and Pc Stephen Hudson for their Operation Close Pass. Initiative, which targets drivers who pass too close to people cycling when overtaking them.
