A Wild Garden – Beyond the Window Box
https://beyondthewindowbox.wordpress.com/a-wild-garden
Beyond the Window Box. Plants for a Shady Balcony. My ‘other garden’ was designed with wildlife in mind but I didn’t anticipate leaving nature in charge for so much of the time. While we’re away in Paris, our lodger mows the grass and pulls out the most conspicuous weeds but by and large the plants, whether deliberately planted or self-sown, are left to their own devices. Click on any of the pictures for a link to a post about that plant, or the garden in general. 2 thoughts on “ A Wild Garden.
Paris Green – Beyond the Window Box
https://beyondthewindowbox.wordpress.com/paris-green
Beyond the Window Box. Plants for a Shady Balcony. Paris has a huge variety of public green space, ranging from formal historic gardens to haphazard community veg plots and from urban squares to semi-wild woodland. After three years exploring the city I’m still finding green surprises in places I’ve not visited before, discovering hidden gardens I’d overlooked close to home and revisiting quiet corners of well known landmarks. Playing in Place des Vosges, October 2015. Narcissus in the Parc Floral. City ...

Plants for a Shady Balcony – Beyond the Window Box

Beyond the Window Box. Plants for a Shady Balcony. Plants for a Shady Balcony. The colour scheme of purple, lilac and white flowers with bronze foliage wasn’t planned from the outset but evolved when I found out what grew well. Few yellow, red or orange flowered plants are adapted to growing in temperate shade but that’s no great loss. The ‘cool’ colour scheme suits this shady place. Clematis ‘Arabella’. Parks & Gardens – Beyond the Window Box
https://beyondthewindowbox.wordpress.com/paris-green/parks-gardens
Beyond the Window Box. Plants for a Shady Balcony. Even the best known Paris parks and gardens have surprising, quiet corners. It has taken me a while to get to know and like the Jardin du Luxembourg. And the Jardin des Tuileries. Visiting the first on a wind-swept day in early spring and the second on a sunny Sunday afternoon didn’t help the process. They are both impressive on first encounter but more likable when you get to know them. Click on any picture to follow a link to the related post). You are...

Mostly gardening in France. This was the year we finally moved over to France. I had taken voluntary redundancy in July – though it was slightly more complicated than that in reality – and we moved over in September. The first job was to clear the area which would become the garden of the many trees established there. Including much acrobatic antics from Timothe the tree surgeon! The year ended with our first snowfall in November. This entry was posted in french life. Grahy 2013 →. Enter your comment here.
