Bicycle Rose: September 2012
http://bicyclerose.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 13, 2012. Rain, rain, let's try again! Well, looks like summer is leaving us little by little. Days are getting shorter and the temperatures have dropped 10° lower. Not much to complain about yet, though we went from over 30°C to 20°C. Still, I was stunned to put on a jumper today. It was pouring buckets when I started to get dressed this morning for work which did not make me want to go out, but on the other hand I wanted to test my "rainy apparel". Since summer is almost over, I was...
Bicycle Rose: Little trip to Amsterdam
http://bicyclerose.blogspot.com/2012/12/little-trip-to-amsterdam.html
Sunday, December 23, 2012. Little trip to Amsterdam. I have delayed posting my thoughts on my trip to Amsterdam, as I wanted to be as objective as I could be, though I do not know how this will work out. First of all let me just state that I adored my little trip. My boyfriend and I left from Biarritz to the Toulouse airport early on the 15th of December, so we arrived in the middle of the afternoon in Amsterdam. This gave us time to do some sight seeing to get the. At the airport, we were greeted by the...
Bicycle Rose: October 2012
http://bicyclerose.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 8, 2012. Yesterday I was reading a bicycle blog I enjoy, Let's Go Ride a Bike. There was a post on a dreadful accident in Chicago: a 32 year old man was about to get doored and in order to avoid it went into traffic where he was killed instantly. It is a disgrace to any elected official who lets this happen, especially in these times when people are turning more and more to the bicycle because they cannot afford gaz and when we all know sooner or later fuel will no longer be available.

Traditionally, the first born inherited the house, whether boy or girl, and all responsabilities befell on him / her. Bicycle Rose: July 2012

Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Bicycle Rose or Bicycle Champetre? Today was a quite disagreable day. Clients at work were vile and as I was quietly riding back to work from my lunch break, I suddenly hear breaks hitting hard. Recommends in his book " The Enlightened Cyclist. More on that on a post to come). I could not help myself, pausing and looking at the different plants and trying to get some insparation for my own garden. I hate wearing heels, I would rather sleep a few more minutes than finding the best ...

Blithe Bicyclist . . .: Hols@Home: Ferry Ride
http://www.blithebicyclist.com/2012/08/holshome-ferry-ride.html
Blithe Bicyclist . . . Wednesday, August 8. Normally, when I cross the river I cycle over using one of 3 bridges, the Graham Farmer, the Causeway or the Narrows. However, in holiday mode, I decided to do something I haven't done since childhood and take the ferry. It was free, as I'd already paid for a train ticket. (The bike is transported for free anyway, the same as on the trains.). The Surly looked as though it was travelling first class, having the whole of the 4-bay bike area to itself. The little ...

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Wednesday, February 15. Heathcliffe, it's me I'm . . . Oops! The bitumen and I have regular close shaves and so I'm constantly amazed that it's been over three decades since we've actually made first-hand contact. The run of good luck ended abruptly on Friday night, under cover of darkness (I'm grateful for small mercies). Not wishing to build tension to a point of anticlimax the sum total of injuries amounted to a bruised knee, a sore hip, a squashed boob and a battered ego. Comme...

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Wednesday, September 5. The day was seriously threatening rain the whole time, but, the cycling gods were kind and I had my own personal pocket of sunshine for the whole trip, which didn't stop the occasional nervous glance over my shoulder. After a small amount of rain areas of farmland along the bikepath were quite swampy . . . guess what terrain the new 'burbs are built on? Along the way I stopped and purchased a bucket of sweet mandarins from a small orchard for the princely su...

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Tuesday, September 20. I could say that I love Jean Pierre Sancho. Because of their delivery bike. Which is true. I could say it's my favourite patisserie because the seats are large and well upholstered (like the bottoms of regular clients). Which is also true. Friday, September 16. Dahon's Maiden Bus Trip. By taking the Dahon and, therefore, the rail replacement bus I am knocking 100kms of cycling off the tally of physical activity for the 40hrs . . . and it feels fan...I had my ...

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Tuesday, December 20. The End of the 'No-Mow' Experiment. Whilst leaving it unattended at the shops, it's easy to lock to the bike through the frame. I find for use in the 'burbs a 2-wheeled trailer is incredibly stable. It almost feels like I've put trainer wheels back on the bike! The Surly, as always, purrs like a kitten the second it has a load, settling quietly to work and allowing me to forget that I'm even pulling a trailer . . . and therein lies the rub. Friday, December 16.
Blithe Bicyclist . . .: Hols@Home: City Farm Market
http://www.blithebicyclist.com/2012/08/holshome-city-farm-market.html
Blithe Bicyclist . . . Monday, August 13. Hols@Home: City Farm Market. A sunny winter's day, the need of a pootle and a sudden hankering for kale with mushrooms (cooked with tamari, sesame oil, garlic and chilli) could only point to one thing. A trip to City Farm's Organic Market:. What lovely photos of food. My DH makes all our bread so I am really lucky. Wish we had winter weather s nice as yours. Id be happy if the summer weather was as good! August 13, 2012 at 1:28 AM. August 13, 2012 at 1:39 AM.

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Tuesday, July 31. Hols@Home: Water, Water Everywhere! However, having revised the budget, it appears kennel boarding fees are out of the question, so, for the next few weeks, I am holidaying at home. I've dusted off the metropolitan bike maps, replaced the Surly's brake pads and, thoughts of Geraldton being put firmly out of my mind, I'm going to have some local, cycling fun. After all, a holiday is a holiday. Yay! Monday, July 23. In Search of El Cheapo. Friday, July 20. I've upgr...
Blithe Bicyclist . . .: May 2012

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Sunday, May 27. The War Memorial honoring fallen railway workers rightly takes pride of place. Semi-industrial was quickly swapped for semi-rural as I started through the leafy foothills. Then, inevitably, there was Marriott Street. Don't get me wrong, it's perfectly easy to cycle up even when lazy legs are pedalling a steel frame (although, when fully-loaded for a camping trip it can make your cheeks a bit pink). It's more the idea. The ride home from Darlington reminds me of a sk...
Blithe Bicyclist . . .: Spring has Sprung: Araleun Botanical Gardens

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Monday, September 24. Spring has Sprung: Araleun Botanical Gardens. Glancing at 'Wind in the Willows' the day before, when I should have been dusting the bookcase, Mole's wanderlust proved infectious. I wanted some SPRING! I'm freezing I can be a little spiteful. Ah, I know spring fever when I see it. Those tulips are gorgeous! So glad you got out early; I have trouble with pre-coffee starts, but admire those who can do it. September 24, 2012 at 8:37 PM. Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Leashes for dogs, overrated? In the past, I have had 2 dogs and am the owner of 2 dogs in the present. I have always lived in a city and have always walked my dogs on leashes. Well, simply because they are dogs. I can understand them to a certain limit, but I certainly can never be a 100% sure of their reaction. What would happen if they are faced with a new dog in the neighbourhood? There's a squirrel, will they chase after it? I understand that there is a noise with bicycl...

With gasoline prices prices in the United States hovering around $1 per liter, the number of bicyclers is increasing, especially in cities, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report. Firstly, simply by watching the video, I have no idea why the bicyclers are riding, OK? Id bet most Seattle and Washington State bicyclers are more recreational than utilitarian urban living riders.
