Big Garden Little Garden. Gardening at a big house and a tiny one in Ireland. Archives for the month of: March, 2014. First plant sale of 2014! March 16, 2014. I was going to write about seeds this week, but Lord knows there is plenty of time for that! Instead, I’ve decided to write about my little trip to Bellefield last Saturday to the Spring Plant Sale. I say trip, but it was only just a few minutes over an hour’s drive for me to get there. 8216;Baton Rouge’, a purchase from Bellefield Plant Fair.

Big Garden Little Garden. Gardening at a big house and a tiny one in Ireland. Laquo; First plant sale of 2014! July 6, 2014. Ode to Millet and Zirtec…. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to work on blog posts as the 9yr old seems to have become an expert computer user overnight. This also means that any spare energy I have is used up trying to get the 9yr old off of the computer and into the garden — a battle I am surely losing. Other than that, all has been well. Life at Brookwood Shire. Be Careful What You Wish For →. The Mysterious Missing Shoe. August 9, 2015. Most people just thought it was cute. In any case, these shoes have been very handy over the years and even though Fergus is more “mature” now and no longer steals things, they are my “go for a walk” shoes in the summer. I keep them outside, in the carport, with my Wellies. So you can imagine my surprise when Fergus and I went out to go for our. Walk yesterday and found this. Who would take one shoe?

Life at Brookwood Shire. Newer posts →. So We’re Off…. July 17, 2016. The girls are settling in to Whispering Pines Farm. Carole reports that Beatrix has joined her new friends at least once. How she got through the gate is anyone’s guess, but she did. But Prudence is a survivor. I predict she will size up the situation and just become “one of the girls” and carry on. She misses being Queen of Cluckingham Palace, but she will do just fine. Or as gorgeous as they were last year at this time. Cliff walk an...

Life at Brookwood Shire. The Harvest Continues…. July 21, 2015. We had a lovely June this year and the cool weather plants all did well. We have been feasting on huge heads of broccoli, sweet tender lettuce, delicious peas, and bountiful kale, chard and spinach. But July turned hot. The spinach bolted as did the lettuce, and the peas faded. The broccoli is still producing some and the kale and chard are fine. But now the hot weather plants are coming. It has been a busy time in the gardens. I missed the ...
