Susan's gettin' a brand-new hip! Posted March 15, 2010. Got the call that Susan went into the recovery room about 9:20, so the surgery lasted less than two hours, and the doctor said all went well. She opted for an epidural and a light sedative instead of a general anesthetic, so she should have an easier time than in the past coming out of that fog. She’s surrounded with pills and pillows, books, rolled up towels, the warranty paperwork for her new hardware, and a Lovenox (blood thinner) kit, complete with a DVD we can not. She was much more stable on her feet and able to take bigger, bolder steps with the walker. Two little things happened in the pharmacy:.

The surgeon’s referral for PT said “no restrictions” on movement, and the report he sent to the PT clinic indicated that her procedure went well on every count – there was nothing abnormal or any reason for concern. Great to have her with us to take that first big step together. Susan's gettin' a brand-new hip! Posted March 29, 2010. What a difference a few days make:. Bruising’s almost gone, swelling’s way down, and the walker’s been put away. Susan no longer requires assistance to:. Walk, shower, get dressed, or even put on those compression stockings. The surgeon’s original prediction that Susan would be able to drive two weeks after surgery seemed awfully ambitious. As it turns out, she was a few days ahead of this timetable.
