Detour Columbia Road Flower Market. July 20, 2015. One of my absolute favourite places to visit in London on a Sunday is Columbia Road Flower Market,. And now that I’ve got my friend Jo back from living in San Francisco, I’m making the most of our girls days out, and enjoying everything that makes London so damn cool. Carrying on towards Brick Lane, there is somewhere I. They would not do what we tell them. Sneaking more looks at the flowers and trying to make up my mind, one of the traders performed for...

Lu-Gerda's Travels: The Queen Street Synagogue, Oudtshoorn

http://lugerda.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-queen-street-synagogue-oudtshoorn.html

Thursday, July 9, 2015. The Queen Street Synagogue, Oudtshoorn. On our day trip to Oudshoorn we walk pass a beautiful stone building in Baron van Rheede Street. The gate was open and we decided to take a closer look. We walk around the building to the other side and found that this was a Synagogue. The first Hewbrew school in South Africa was established in Oudtshoorn in 1904. Part of the building complex includes the school building. The Queen Street Synagogue. Der Englishe Shul –. Is still in use today.

Lu-Gerda's Travels: Ostrich Feather Palaces

http://lugerda.blogspot.com/2015/07/ostrich-feather-palaces.html

Friday, July 17, 2015. Oudsthoorn became known world-wide due to the ostrich feather industry. From about 1860 it was high fashion for ladies to use ostrich feathers as decoration on their outfits. Between 1900 and 1914 the price was unbelievable high and the farmers and merchants in Oudtshoorn reaped the rewards. Here are a few of the ostrich palaces we found while walking in Oudtshoorn in Aug 2013:. Le Roux House ( 46 High Street). The house was built. For JHJ le Roux. It was designed by Char. Montague...

Sunday, July 29, 2012. PE : St Mary’s Cemetary. We spend the morning walking the Richmond Hill Trail in Port Elizabeth. We then returned to the guesthouse to relax for a while before going to the St Mary’s Cemetery. I learned about this old cemetery form the Port Elizabeth Daily Photo Blog. The cemetery was not in a very good condition when we visited. It was dirty with homeless people sleeping between the graves. We decided not to go in to deep. The old graves were neglected and vandalized. 8220;James C...

Big World ... Small Garden

Sunday, 8 June 2008. Orchids, swans, terns and buttercups. See how the orchids are thriving! A swan too close - boy, can they hiss! It wasn't us - a dog (not ours) got too close to the cygnets. The weather has been warm and sunny so a couple of days ago we had a short stroll around Watergate Park which was built on a former colliery spoil heap. You may remember that last year around this time I spotted a beautiful flower which turned out to be a. Yellow iris around the pond and below a group of Buttercups.

Big World :: Small Girl

Sunday, May 13, 2012. God Is. So. Cool. How can I say I love God and ignore those crying out for my love? Verses 7-10 show us the Gospel. They tell us. Love is. "By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that. And sent his Son to be the propitiation (sacrifice) for our sins. All you need is love." We've heard it a million times. But it's. Cast[] all your cares upon Him, because He. Us and every...

Big world, small kitchen. Practical ethics of making and baking in an unethical world. Too many questions, not enough answers. When my thoughts on the troubles of the world are over-whelming, I can find a little consolation in baking. BigWorld SmallSteps – Adventures away from the grind.

Adventures away from the grind. Almost a Year in Seville. It’s been a long time since our last post, in that time we’ve been living and teaching in Seville, Spain which turned out to be a great decision! We’d decided that Spain would be our next destination due to the amount of teaching English work available and wanted to be a little closer to home, our choices were either Valencia or Seville and after a good deal of research (and YouTube videos) we went with Seville! Finding somewhere to live was sligh...
