Eurobiking Through American Eyes. Shimano Deore XT Brakes (BR-M775). I got a great deal on new calipers and brake levers at Cambria Bike Outfitters. Salsa “La Cruz” 57cm CrMo cyclocross frame. Fitted and built by Eric Erkel at Sammamish Valley Bicycle Shop. Shimano 105 triple group 50-39-30 chainrings, 12-27 sprockets. Avid BB7 disc brakes, 160mm rotors. The Avids do work with the 105 brake levers, so that is a plus. The disc brakes are nice in the rain, but are they better brakes all around? After prior...

Faith is like electricity. You can’t see it, but you can see the light. As an American living in Europe, I carry this mental checklist of things to keep, and things to leave behind. When I return home. In the keep column would be the latest crop of electric bikes (Ebikes) that are sprouting here. How do I get one, you ask!

Mad Passions Swirling About A Postage Stamp Sized World of Chickens, Gardening, and the Kitchen. About Margaret and Dave. Let’s Build a Worm Farm! New Trellis and The Fate of Tuppence. August 30, 2012. Good news first. I just finished this trellis for Margaret. It’s a nice, simple design derived from lots of other trellis shapes that pretty much sucked. Umm… Why did I say that? As Wikipedia states, it is a template for drawing “smooth curves of varying radii.” Now how awesome is that? The thing is, my or...

Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Resolution progress.sort of. So, I posted last time LATE (like 6 months too late) that I had made a resolution to use up my yarn. I have, thank goodness, made some progress. So far, I have knitted one women-sized slippers (for a coworker), still working on the dear hubby's scarf, a pair of baby socks, and am beginning work on a child's Minion hat. What? Working on more than project at a time? Have more than one project going on at the same time? Posted by - Karen H. Eurobiking T...

Wednesday, October 16, 2013. How My Mother Came to Love Opera. I spontaneously wrote this story on Facebook, and because people seemed to like it a lot, I thought I'd make it more "permanent" here on my blog. I wondered whether I should put it on my writing blog ( Playing With Words. Between work and other stuff, I haven't written a whole story in a long time. But because I have a little bit of time, I am going to write a story here, right now on Facebook. It is a true story, one that really happened.

The Pollyanna Files: November 2013

http://pollyannaofkaren.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 28, 2013. I understand there are recipes where it's just sugar and eggs, too. I haven't modified the pecan pie recipe at all, as it's something that's been handed down, and it's tried and true. Why mess with perfection? However, the pumpkin pie recipe has been through more than a few modifications, because of making it from pumpkins instead of puree in a can. One of these days, I'm going to write down the process and the recipe. Posted by - Karen H. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Bike Cycling - Cycling in Los Angeles

Bike Cycling - Cycling in Los Angeles. Monday, November 03, 2008. Ever since I was a child, I was an avid bike. By the third week of trying to figure out how to solve my problem, and even considering quitting my new job, I got the answer. My girlfriend suggested that I look into getting a motorized bike. To ride to work. At first I thought: No self respecting bike rider rides a moped! Of all the motorized bikes I looked at, the beach cruiser style caught my eye the most. The Greenline EB-8626. An account of my life experiences with a bicycle. Tour Divide - My Letter of Intent. Tuesday, April 9, 2013. All things new, what's been up, plans for the season. Blog posts are boring sometimes. Maybe even most of the time. I guess I wonder occasionally why I do it? Are there people that are interested in my ramblings? Do I do it for referral to what I've done and plan on doing? I can tell you that there are very few times that I have looked back to things. Trapps (that's a whole lot of FAT). Well, it's...
