If life's a journey, I'd rather travel it on two wheels. April 13, 2014. I signed up for the Forty in the Fort mountain bike race. It’s right here in my backyard so I figured why not. Yesterday I pre-rode the course and today I’m saying, why? I snapped a couple of pictures early on when I was feeling good on what turned out to be a wrong turn. The mountains in the background are where I was headed. He’s got the exact same bike as my Sarah although his is in much better shape! Sarah has almost used hers up.

Here are my race highlights from 2014. 1 Getting in. I screwed around and it filled before I registered. Fortunately they have a waiting list and I rose to the top of it. 2 My new ride. This loop strings together some of my favorite roads and comes out to 100 miles, almost all gravel. Note: there are no services on this ride. Zero. You’re on your own for food and water. The frame bag is carrying mostly water.
