Bike Musings: August 2010
http://bikemusings.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 29, 2010. Summer has just died here. This am is was cool, breezy and mostly bluebird skies. We took a couple new folks out to the Dells. They appeared to have fun. I know I sure did. Simon Bar is the perfect bike. Rarely did I feel like I wanted anything more. Just below Willow Dam. This is the result of blowing your wad climbing waaay STIL slick rock. We did this next section a bunch of times with a couple different lines. It requires careful braking, but isn't really that bad. WB will en...
Bike Musings: Pugs Fail
http://bikemusings.blogspot.com/2011/07/pugs-fail.html
Monday, July 18, 2011. I had a superb three hour trail ride in all conditions today. Here are a few thoughts few conclusions. Caveat: Forget about flotation, this is a review of the Pugsley as a trail. Bike Excellence in the areas requiring flotation is a given, but that is not what I use this bike for. I was pleasantly surprised to hear a sound reminiscent of the original Enterprise's warp drive. While rolling fast on a short paved section. Rigid bike with a little more cush as I took it down my favorit...
Bike Musings: February 2011
http://bikemusings.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 21, 2011. I purposely took both bikes to Sedona to compare them and rode the Jones in the morning, and the By:Stickel in the afternoon. I only had about two hours on the Jones prior to this ride and maybe 60 hours on the By:Stickel. Imagine my surprise when I rode more comfortably and confidently in technical terrain, and at high speed on the Jones. It wasn't even close. This sort of move was no problem on the Jones, it would have scared me on the By:Stickel. Much heavier (same weight fo...
Bike Musings: April 2011
http://bikemusings.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 28, 2011. I took little E out to the new mellow Dells light trail to see how he could do in some mildly technical terrain. As he is growing, his strength is increasing significantly. I had also lowered the gearing on his SS and put on some light knobbies recently which would help his climbing. First tech section.passed. Sometimes it ain't gonna happen. It wasn't all tech. Time to head down and hit a few tech sections:. I'm proud of the ratchet pedaling in that one:). Links to this post.
Bike Musings: March 2011
http://bikemusings.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 1, 2011. I had the opportunity to shoot a Glock 9mm and Springfield .45 pistols at a range yesterday. I have not shot a pistol in a very long time. I came away a bit in awe at the power in these little devices, and the absolute ease with which it is wielded. Fun, yes, but in a truly terrifying way.I am pro-gun in general, but I fear many involved with guns have no where near enough respect for the easily tapped power in these devices. Links to this post. The Nelson Chronicles: June 2009
http://nelsonchronicles.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 12, 2009. There was a loosely organized group of folks who developed and rode this loop earlier this spring. I wanted to try it then, but did not have the time. I finally got around to this ride today. I had the day off, the temps are cool, I have been riding a lot over winter/spring, and it was time to give it a go. Highly recommended if you are up for a ride this long and want a taste of Prescott. Pre Dawn Willow Lake. View toward Thumb Butte and Spruce mtn where I'm heading. Willow Lake&#...

If I were to use one word to describe this first week with Josh, it would be peaceful. It has been nice for me (Eric) to be home and help out with everything, I am enjoying it. Heather is recovering very well so far which is another blessing. The days are filled with the routines of feeding the baby, and keeping four other active. Here he is with the kids demonstrating backward walking.

Saturday, November 29, 2008. Today we summited Spruce. This is the highest peak locally at 7800 feet. The views are unbelievable, and there is a fire tower at the top to get even more elevation. Lord of his domain. Snacks are always welcome. Rachel found about a thousand lady bugs in the cracks of the rocks. We came home to find the main pipe running into the house burst. You really appreciate water when you don't have any. Links to this post. Turkey Day in Ca. Ethan "boxing" with the Wii. These dresses ...
