Velocodger: November 2009
http://velocodger.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 30, 2009. I'm keeping the SS! Yes, dirt skiing season is here and I rode my fav MB loop, the Foresthill Divide trail. I did not put my foot down! Always reassuring when you realize, even after a long absence, ya still got it! Or some of it anyway) The hard parts are still hard, but at least I don't have to go out and buy a derailleur. I don't like to face it, but I turned sixty this year. Yech. So what do I do differently? I warm up longer. Lots longer. Links to this post. Cyclocosm - Pr...

Saturday, June 26, 2010. Acing is a different matter. Digging ever deeper as we lead or chase the peloton, gritting our teeth and vowing to keep up with that wheel ahead- now that's suffering! When my heart is pounding so hard I'm afraid it might burst-that's when I tell myself-. Today is a good day to die! And by the way, that's the Tourmalet Eddie's climbing. Links to this post. Tuesday, April 24, 2012. There is something poignant about these racers, so far from home, family, friends, and all that is familiar. And yet they win. April 24, 2012 at 9:49 AM. I agree with your point of view and can imagine how lonly they must feel in moments of less good legs when they suffer to stay on the wheels and no homely good laugh around! Saturday, April 30, 2016. Unfinished Escher Staircase Found in Salem, Oregon. Today the art world was staggered by news of the discovery in Salem, Oregon of a work of art thought lost, but actually only misplaced. We speak here of M.C. Escher’s unfinished and unique sculptural project: “Stair Steps to Their Beginning.”. 8221; he took his final artistic gamble. The plans for the sculpture were drawn up on Escher’s favorite surface of tanned rhino hide (“because it stands up well to humidity an...Was gradu...

Monday, September 23, 2013. The Problem(s) with Bike Lanes. Once in a while, however, I get some education. I learn something new about what folks are thinking and doing out on the asphalt, and what might be done to make auto-bike interaction better (other than banning a large part of the population from driving/biking—or writing comments on web sites). One such educational moment occurred recently. However, as someone who both drives and. His comment was educational, so I am returning the favor. The usu...

The Upright Cyclist: October 2016
http://theuprightcyclist.blogspot.com/2016_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 29, 2016. Upright Cycling in October. October is one of my favorite months. There are years when it seems still part of summer; others when winter is already twisting its fingers around the nights and mornings. Crisp, clear October skies seem particularly able to hold images against them in etched precision. No other month in Western Oregon experiences such an amount of change in temperature or precipitation. October is a month of alteration and energy. With October’s weather and ...
