Who spent t...

Pedalling Madly Backwards: June 2013
http://pedallingmadlybackwards.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Cycling the Backroads of Taiwan. Sunday, June 16, 2013. So, my Bicycle Cafe. Had its first official outing this weekend. The 2-month long process of designing a trailer, finding a good metal fabricator and having a wood box and counter built, finally came to an end. My carpenter friend did an amazing job with the box and table. It's all plywood, so the weight of the empty trailer is still under 20kg ( 20kg icebox inside). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Pedalling Madly Backwards: October 2012

Cycling the Backroads of Taiwan. Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Kaohsiung Worth a Visit. Down at Pier 2. An article in the Taipei Times on Tuesday raised some questions about Kaohsiung as a tourist destination. One netizen wrote:“[If I had] to recommend a place to visit in southern Taiwan, it would be Tainan or Kenting, because those cities have more special characteristics than Kaohsiung.”. So, is Kaohsiung worth visiting? Kaohsiung is a planned city. It has an excellent bike rental program. For such a bi...

Cycling the Backroads of Taiwan. Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Cycling Couple Killed in Thailand. Another sad reminder today about how vulnerable we are when out riding. UK cyclist-bloggers on world tour killed in Thailand. Experienced cyclists who were riding safely - killed for what? Because some fool dropped his hat! My thoughts really go out to their family and friends. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Exploring Kenting National Park. Cycling Couple Killed in Thailand. View my complete profile.

Pedalling Madly Backwards: Dapeng Bay
http://pedallingmadlybackwards.blogspot.com/2013/02/dapeng-bay.html
Cycling the Backroads of Taiwan. Saturday, February 2, 2013. I've been wanting to do a ride around Dapeng Bay for a while now, so I stopped by the Kaohsiung train station the other day to check some times for a train south to Linbian. To my surprise, the staff assured me I could roll my unbagged. Bike onto trains heading south from KHH at the following times:. 5:36 / 7:49 / 8:34 / 10:04 / 14:33 / 15:45 / 17:18 / 16:20 and 18:52. This made me very happy, as I really hate bagging my bike. The nearby bike r...

Pedalling Madly Backwards: May 2012

Cycling the Backroads of Taiwan. Thursday, May 31, 2012. Why didn't I think of that? Very cool DIY way to hang your bike from Lifehacker. Sunday, May 27, 2012. Did something really foolish yesterday - turned my phone to vibrate while in the bookstore and never changed it back so it could wake me up for my ride this morning. But, with all the missed rides recently due to rain, I wasn't about to cancel a ride just because of a late start. So, in the blazing 9am sun, I set off for a ride down. Being of seaf...

Pedalling Madly Backwards: September 2012
http://pedallingmadlybackwards.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Cycling the Backroads of Taiwan. Wednesday, September 5, 2012. Not much time for doing any actual riding these days, but find myself staying up late planning future bicycle trips. My recent trip to Bangkok has me thinking about a tour in Thailand this winter :-). I can't say the biking was great, with not a hill to be found and fairly endless miles of similar scenery, but I had a great time, so must've been doing something right. Stopped for a while to enjoy a local soccer game. Summer camp activities ar...
