Prairie Woman: Thiefin' Varmints!

http://billswoman.blogspot.com/2014/11/varmints.html

Life in the Slow Lane. Saturday, November 15, 2014. Bill went out to get root veggies from the garden today (yes, ours are STILL in the ground this late.) and found out *someone* has been very busy since the last time we checked - A fellow like this one has absconded with all of our carrots! I am all for being kind to animals, but I think the gophers would have gotten along fine this winter without our carrots. Oh well - whadda do? I must admit, I kinda like that he knew better. Prairie Woman: February 2014

http://billswoman.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Life in the Slow Lane. Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Heading off Ill Health. Away in 2001, after weeks of being in a coma. He went into that coma from blocked arteries caused by advanced heart disease that he wasn't aware of until it was already too late. With that family history - and my own experience with arrhythmia, skipped beats, and racing heart - I felt it was prudent to have a stress test at this stage of my life in case I could head off worse things down the road. Scribblings from Memory: May 2014

http://preservationist.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

I grew up somewhere near Lake Wobegon. But not too far from Walton's Mountain. Dusty: Cat, Friend and Mouser Extraordinaire. Best friends - Dusty and I (circa 1970). Usty was a very special friend to me. He came into my life when I was 9 years old, born to a stray (who had adopted our family 2 years earlier) named Smoky. His mother had had 2 litters previous to his, but the tomcat got them all. This time, Dusty was the only one that escaped, because my father was able to hide him in the hayloft. Dusty an...

Scribblings from Memory: September 2014

http://preservationist.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

I grew up somewhere near Lake Wobegon. But not too far from Walton's Mountain. One Winter's Night: Grandma and Me Alone. I don't have a clue once I get past the second move. I loved being with my Grandma Fitzpatrick so much when I was growing up. I missed her when in later years she spent half the year with Aunt Pat and Uncle John in Bemidji. I loved it when she came to live with us. A Winter's Game: Fox and Geese. But time isn't kind, and when I remembered, it was far, far too late. His course was focus...

Scribblings from Memory: Embroidery

http://preservationist.blogspot.com/2014/11/embroidery.html

I grew up somewhere near Lake Wobegon. But not too far from Walton's Mountain. Was taught embroidery by my Grandma. I went on to embroider many dresser scarves, pillow cases, and dish towels. In high school, I embroidered hats, purses, shirts, and jean jackets. As a young mother, I embroidered a crib quilt and dresses for my little girl, Eva. It's been a long time, but I am once again inspired to do needlework. With my limited dexterity. Nowadays, I'll be tackling this small project. A Depth of Grieving.

Scribblings from Memory: October 2013

http://preservationist.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

I grew up somewhere near Lake Wobegon. But not too far from Walton's Mountain. When I was growing up, this was called a dresser scarf. No good home was without them. This one is quite lovely - it is made from linen that has been crocheted over, then edged with. The embroidery is quite striking - a crewel using ribbons. I admire the maker, whoever she is. Other favorites of mine to enhance with thread and needle were dresser scarves. Hankies, and pillowcases. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

I grew up somewhere near Lake Wobegon. But not too far from Walton's Mountain. Mom was a Packrat. Mom would have had a good chance of. Winning the contest mentioned in #4. A Word Fitly Spoken by Bishop Bill Davidson. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Gum Chewers Aren’t Trying Very Hard To Be Saved. Gum Chewers Aren’t Trying Very Hard To Be Saved. You know what makes me mad? You know what is about as disgusting as finding toenail clippings on the church floor? Gum chewers in church, that’s what! I saw 37 Quail-heads chewing gum in church last Sunday. Now what is that all about? It was like a plague. I would ask where their Mama was, but some of their Mamas were chewing gum too. How ma...
