Tick 'n' go Birding. Saturday, 31 January 2015. Gunners park Essex for Serins. The day started well for Jimmy and myself when 4 Redpoll come into our garden and land on our feeders to give us a year tick, this goes along with the male Blackcap that came to see us in the garden a couple of days ago. The signs are not good when we are told that the bird has not been seem for a long time despite there being a fair number of people looking for it. Just a bad record shot. Sunday, 25 January 2015. Once again we head off early to Dungeness for the third week running, driving down towards the lighthouse it is completely different from last week with no birds apart from Gulls seen, after the influx that we saw last it's not looking to good for us as we knew before we set out that the weather was not in our favour for birds passing through up on the beach. A scan over by the power stat...

Sunday, March 29, 2015. Headed down to Bedford yesterday after news of one of the last 5 wild Lady Amherst's Pheasants. Left in the Western Palearctic broke on twitter last week. It appeared within a few minutes of me arriving but it was a fleeting sighting as it walked from one area of forest through the clearing to the next. Sadly I had no further sightings in the next 2.5 hours. Heard my first Chiffchaff. Library Picture, sadly not mine! Sunday, March 15, 2015. On Anglesey at Cemlyn Bay, Chough. By Yo...

It's only 43 miles from home down the M11 and with no traffic about at this time of the morning we are soon parked up and walking down to the reedbed hide, as we near the hide we hear the first purring of a Turtle dove, a quick scan of the trees and we have another year tick in the bag. Only 30 mi...

Tick 'n' go Birding: October 2014
http://tickngobirding.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Tick 'n' go Birding. Monday, 27 October 2014. A nice few hours spent at Wallasea Island. Being only 40 minutes from home we head to Wallasea Island and arrive at first light, a Rough-legged Buzzard has been reported and we hope to find it. On getting out of the car we find that it is a bit colder than we thought and the top coats soon go on. A local birder turns up and tells us he thinks that the reported Rough legged Buzzard is a bit of a red herring in he's opinion and we never get to see it while here.
