Lake Mogan has been frozen and only a few spots of open water have been left. But as always they have attracted many ducks. It was a nice surprise to find 5 Ferrugionus Ducks there in mid February. Common Pochard with a white head. Other ducks present with more than 100 individuals were Gadwall, Pintail, Tufted Duck (230), Wigeon and Red-crested Pochard.

Oase, losseplads og tropik. Fredag d. 13.(! Februar er der tidlig afgang fra Al Nile Hotel, da vi vil luske Mudday Oasen, som ligger 100 km (to timers kørsel) NV for Salalah ca. 70 km øst for grænsen til Yemen. Tidligere var bevoksningen ved Qatbit, ca. 275 km NØ for Salalah ved hovedvejen, lokaliteten, hvor de fleste så hypocolius i Oman, men denne vinter har Mudday været bedste lokalitet med op til 34 fugle! I dagene op til jul er der produceret mange gode arter i Skagen. Højdepunktet var en polarlomvie fundet af KP fredag d. 19. december ved sælbunkeren på Grenen og twitchet af ROC. Perjantai 8. elokuuta 2014. Fleiviikii - Great Snipe. Kävästiin äsken (8.8.2014) Mimosan kanssa lyhyellä iltaretkellä Fleiviikissä, parasta oli kuulemma vilukot, lampaat ja hyttyset. Mun makuun oli heinäkurpat, joita löyty lammaslaitumelta peräti kolme yksilöä, vaikka kompattiin vain noin viidennes laitumesta. Mediasta nassahti paikallisvuodenpinna nro 252 - kolmeatoista vielä hakis :). Merihanhia nousi Suistosta itään parisen sataa lintua, kuvassa vanha yksilö. Toinen versio samasta fotosta, kiitos Esa!

I've had two trips to Druridge Pools recently, both times there was a good selection of birds. On Sunday the drake Garganey. Remained on the Budge Fields and two Wood Sandpipers. Showed really well in front of the screen, as did 4 Little Egrets. My first ever summer plumage Little Stint. Dropped in with 2 Dunlin. 141 Little Ringed Plover.

Lørdag den 29. marts 2014. 8/2 Blue-necked Tanager at Pedro Palo. As most other tanagers quite attractive. 8/2 Turquoise Dacnis at Pedro Palo. We had no problems with this one seeing two males and a female near the lagoon. We had lunch at Chicaque where hummingbird feeders provide a good possibility to connect with the amazing Golden-bellied Starfrontlet. We saw two males, including a very smart full adult male while enjoying our lunch. Unfortunately the adult male only made brief visits to the feeders.
