St John's church was built in 1865. In the first year. S, there were many gifts of furnishings and other items. Mr Temple's son, George, gave the reredos in 1868. The Baptistery was erected in 1925 and was a gift from Elizabeth Rule, a daughter of William Temple. Of the church is the collection of striking mosaics. To celebrate the Millennium. We are celebrating the 150th year Of St John's. A weekend of celebrations. Including a flower festival, exhibitions etc with a celebration Eucharist with the Bishop of Salisbury on Sunday morning, followed by lunch. We are keen to contact past members. The mosaics at St John's were made by James Powell and Sons of the Whitefriars Foundry, London between 1888 and 1915. Whitefriars produced hand made glass which was exported throughout Europe. James Powell's grandson, Harry took over the factory after the death of his grandfather. Click Here to see mosaics. It was Harry who developed the mosaic side of the business. These mosaics are made in a style known as Opus Sectile. The areas of gold, in the nativity scene, for example.

Bishopstrow Village Hall -. The restoration is finished! Monday, 4 th. September 2017 marks the end of renovation and the date from the hall being available for to hire. Over the last four years, Bishopstrow village hall has been extensively refurbished. Starting at the top, a new roof was installed to ensure the remainder of the works safe from water damage. Next we went to ground level, with a new oak floor in the main hall. This was followed by a complete rewire. A new heating system has been installed.
