Determinately fumbling toward clarity. So off I went to the library and came out with two books: Hornby’s “A Long Way Down” (“High Fidelity” was lost) and “Pontoon” by Garrison Keillor. I’ve been wanting to read one of Keillor’s novels since I discovered I liked A Prairie Home Companion. Laquo; Reader’s Block. Insert foot directly into mouth…. Date : June 19, 2008. Glad you found something to read and are having fun “playing cashier! My “trashy” comment was in reference to the speed at which ...Which one...

Determinately fumbling toward clarity. Written this past Saturday morning – didn’t have time to publish this on the road…. We are in Maine for my sister’s graduation – as I type we are in the hotel getting ready for the graduation party and Mr. E is napping. I just got off the phone with the deli owner and told her that I’M DONE! So we were shopping in Freeport yesterday when I got a call from the department store where I had just interviewed on Thursday. It was to offer me the job! I am now a Master of ...

Determinately fumbling toward clarity. So I canceled the trip. What. a. Relief. I know my parents are disappointed, but our sanity is more important. And I think Mr. E is at an in-between difficult traveling stage – too old to just sleep through it all, and too young to have long stretches of awake-time when he can entertain himself well. I do see a portable DVD player in our future…. The best part of all is that instead of us traveling, my bestest bud who lives in England is coming to visit! Get every n...

Determinately fumbling toward clarity. Insert foot directly into mouth…. Scene: E. and I are talking in bed, almost ready to go to sleep. In reflection of an exhausting evening with Mr. E. which resulted in E. and I taking turns eating dinner, I say:. 8220;I wish we could have a nanny.”. A: “No, I mean, just someone who would take care of Mr. E most of the day…and evening…and night.”. E: “Um, you mean ME, who takes care of Mr. E ALL DAY AND NIGHT? A: “Deal.”. Determinately fumbling toward clarity. 8221; To which I responded, “well, not really until I get my first teaching job.” E. said, “Well, you are student teaching and a grad student! 8221; Oh ya. People ACTUALLY go to school full-time and that’s just what they do. Not thrown in there in the margins of working full-time. I forgot about that. Anytime, Moon. Anytime…. Laquo; Delayed Reaction. SUSAN LOONE's Blog*. May the truth save us all, may allah bless us. Why I blog, ah? 8212; the answer is “. 8221; – the Malay word for “simply”. But seriously, I started to think of blogging when my editor(s) said something like this” “if you want to write as you like, and not get your stuff edited or censored, start your own website”. Well, as more and more of my stories get censored even by so-called independent media under the guise of “clarity, brevity, balance and fairness, here i am. Is a birth right.

Public Displays of Affection | The Beginning of the End

The Beginning of the End. It’s our road too. Public Displays of Affection. The Straits Times today has a very interesting feature on H8 today, under Youthink. A photograph of a young couple hugging on an MRT train was taken by a reader and sent to Stomp. The couple were wrapped around a pole and each other, and the reader and her 12-year old daughter had nothing to hang on to. She described the behaviour as ‘shameless’. 8230;] My take is, if it makes the people around you uncomfortable, don’t do it.

Determinately fumbling toward clarity. So I complete the transaction, exchange his iron, and can barely look at him because he’s THAT BEAUTIFUL IN PERSON. I think of a million cheesy things to say to him like “I’m a huge fan….I have a bunch of your albums….etc.” but I decide to be all professional and let him exchange his iron in peace. Turns out it’s well known that he has a summer home in Chatham, two towns over. Date : July 16, 2008. Very, very cool! I woulda been star struck, too, i’m sure! You are c...

Determinately fumbling toward clarity. I’ve been having some bad dreams. I do not like them. 8221; and tried desperately to get up, to no avail. I worried the student was crazed, was going to hurt E. and then make his way upstairs to me, where I lay helpless in bed. I heard her open the door to let him in. I forced myself to wake up. What is up with these dreams? I had taken our bag of water and snacks with me – I should have left them! Laquo; everyone else is doing it…. Date : May 22, 2007. You fear the...

Determinately fumbling toward clarity. Kicking my bad mood’s ass. Moodiness runs in my family. As I predictably start with the required blaming-my-mother-for-everything strategy). Whether by nurture or nature, I was pretty much the same as a kid. I can’t tell you how many times relatives would just look at me and say, “Gee, A., smile, would you? Ass It’s just being bratty, and I’m waaaay too old for that. There Now I’ll hand you all $70 for my virtual therapy session. Daughter from a Distance. Fill in yo...
