A discussion of thought, both Jewish and secular, current events, and funny stuff - from New Zealand-based Jews. Saturday, December 10, 2005. Another day, another crazed theocrat denying the holocaust and threatening to kill the Jews. More sweet nothings whispered by Iran's President (link here. European countries insist on saying that Hitler killed millions of innocent Jews. In furnaces, and they insist on it to the extent that if anyone proves. Reason for their support to the occupiers of Jerusalem?

A discussion of thought, both Jewish and secular, current events, and funny stuff - from New Zealand-based Jews. Friday, June 25, 2004. That nest of hypocrisy, the United Nations, is at last (after many years of requests), finally having a conference on anti-semitism. I guess that as the world's leading (and most respected) purveyor of Jew-hatred, the UN has developed a level of expertise. I urge you to read it all. Here. Posted by Habib @ 5:02 PM. A discussion of thought, both Jewish and secular, current events, and funny stuff - from New Zealand-based Jews. Friday, July 30, 2004. Helen and Phil's new friends. The New Zealand government's foreign policy is gaining us some truly odious admirers. Getting praised by Hamas for joining in the anti-Israel-fest is appalling, but at least not unexpected. But this. For the truth about this corpulent lying sicko, click here. Or read this best-selling book. Here is an excellent piece by Christopher Hitchens.

A discussion of thought, both Jewish and secular, current events, and funny stuff - from New Zealand-based Jews. Sunday, May 23, 2004. A disturbing new trend in aliyah (immigration to Israel) from America has been highlighted by Haaretz. This, for me, is indicative of deep economic troubles besetting Israel, not just due to the intolerable security situation and resulting recession, but also due to a bureaucracy that is not the most supportive of the middle-class individual. A discussion of thought, both Jewish and secular, current events, and funny stuff - from New Zealand-based Jews. Saturday, December 10, 2005. With my reference yesterday. To Google Video, it is only correct to note the first clip I saw using this service, one that was making the rounds in the Jewish blogosphere about a month ago. It is the first yeshiva bochur boy-band video, made by some English and American bochrim from a black-hat yeshiva in Israel during ben ha-z'manim (between terms). Link here.

A discussion of thought, both Jewish and secular, current events, and funny stuff - from New Zealand-based Jews. Thursday, December 01, 2005. Christian Peacemaker Teams' Stockholm syndrome. It turns out that one of the peace activists who is being held hostage by a Sunni group in Iraq, Harmeet Singh Sooden, while a Canadian citizen, has been resident in New Zealand for over two years and a student at Auckland University ( link here. I hope that the hostages are healthy, and will be returned unharmed, soon.

A discussion of thought, both Jewish and secular, current events, and funny stuff - from New Zealand-based Jews. Sunday, February 27, 2005. A symptom of the sickness. In last week's (20 February) Sunday Star-Times (New Zealand's leading Sunday newspaper), published a piece featuring the Bush-Hitler comparisons that have become so common recently among the unthinking "intellectuals" of the left. As I have noted. What could be more depressing than this? One was a self-made man who came from relatively humb...

A discussion of thought, both Jewish and secular, current events, and funny stuff - from New Zealand-based Jews. Saturday, December 10, 2005. The Hostages and their interesting friends. Evan of Black and Tan Eyes has an excellent post on the story of the four Christian Peacemaker [sic] Teams hostages in Iraq ( link here. Nonetheless, I profoundly hope that the CPT 4 make it home safely (though chastened and with some of their preconceptions challenged). Posted by Habib @ 6:45 AM. Arts and Letters Daily.

A discussion of thought, both Jewish and secular, current events, and funny stuff - from New Zealand-based Jews. Friday, December 09, 2005. Is yet another devilishly clever piece of engineering. A number of Jewish blogs have linked to this movie (link here. It is sobering to note that barely 10 years after that film, that entire community would be destroyed, and most of the people the film murdered by the Nazis (may their names and memory be erased). On a lighter note, here. Posted by Habib @ 8:10 AM.

A discussion of thought, both Jewish and secular, current events, and funny stuff - from New Zealand-based Jews. Wednesday, January 12, 2005. I'm back from a summer hiatus - unfortunately, what I have to write about is neither light nor fun. Much has been written about the human tragedy. It is my hope and prayer that the survivors are tended to quickly and adequately, the sick and injured recover, and that the mourners are able to try and rebuild their lives as best the can. How did the UN get it? On the...
