The Blackhams Est. 1997. This was the first time(that I can remember) that it was just our immediate family for Thanksgiving. I was supposed to work from 6am to 6pm, which meant I would not be there for dinner. I was blessed to be given the chance to go home early and have dinner with my wonderful family. The Blackhams Est. 1997. Happy Birthday to.ME! I am blogging my birthday because i will no longer be having them.I will forever stay. 36. That really hurts to say out loud. I am in morning a little. It is hard knowing i am closer to the big 4-0. My dad told me once that he loved his forty's. Not so sure.i will just experience them as a 36. The Blackhams Est. 1997. Sam and Ashlyn LOVE setting up the train. In college I worked at a Christmas store, and was lucky enough to buy an expensive LGB train with a smoking engine. I never imagined I would let my 8 year old put it together and PLAY with it, but I do. She loves the train even more than Sam does. Setting up the track. Playing with the "people". This guy was trying to fix the tank, and fell in! Dobie supervising, and wondering when he gets a turn. Diary of The Blackham3. I laughed, I cried.

Sunday, August 12, 2012. While in the city of Hämeenlinna,. We went to the birth house of Jean Sibelius. It really is a simple museum- he was not born into wealth. His father was a doctor, but died when Jean was very young. The family was then forced to leave that home and move in with his maternal grandmother. Monday, November 14, 2011. I have been teaching preschool for Alex's friends this year. It has been SUPER fun for all of us. We have the best kids in the group- and just the right number of them. Today, we had a bit of a crazy day, but at the end we had adorable hats and shirts to show off! Last year we happened to stop by Kmart right after Halloween. It was a brilliant move. The kids got to pick out some fun costumes at a super discount price. I wish I had remembered to go again this year!

Sunday, August 12, 2012. I don't know why, but I have always been fascinated with moats. When I found out that Finland had several castles I was determined that we visit one. I was ecstatic to see the moat- though it didn't seem all that forbidding with the seemingly shallow water and ducks floating by. The Häme. Door to King's room as seen from inside the courtyard. Sunday, July 22, 2012. Boats, Trains, and More. Our modes of transportation in Finland were widely different from our SUV at home. It was boy heaven- we rode trains, ferry boats, sailboats, buses, and planes. It was all fun for us- but I did have a big smile on my face when I hopped in my own car the first day back to go to Wal-Mart. Thursday, May 26, 2011. I called my sister to spread my joy and she quipped, "Aren't you glad you didn't save your visiting teaching until the end of the month! It was on a small counter that was cluttered with lots of tools for our reconstruction project. Hooray for Anna! Hooray for everyday miracles! Last Wednesday we took Alex to the audiologist for a mapping appointment. He was very helpful this time in completing the listening tasks. Six more months of maturity went a long way! Tucked away at the northern end of Withyham Parish, Blackham isn’t the best-known village in East Sussex. You won’t find it in guide books, it is rarely mentioned in history books; in fact it scarcely gets a mention. Yet, to those of us who live or have lived there, Blackham is a village that gets into your blood, somewhere. You return to, a place from which roots are not easily torn away. I haven’t lived in the village for 60 years, yet. I still think of it as home. We will remember them.

So how is the transition so far? But we are looking forward to reestablishing a sense of belonging here.
