Andrea Leatherman

Wednesday, January 2, 2013. For the past several weeks (really since the last show), I have been trying to decide how to express in a blog what I was thinking and feeling. Becca (Becca Sharp who did my website) has been saying “when is your next blog? I claimed I couldn’t decide what I wanted to write, but the truth is I didn’t know how to write it. It might come across wrong, or sinister. But that’s not how it is want to come across. More of an “a ha” moment. Fallen trees, closed roads, down gas station...

Andrea Leatherman: October 2011

http://blog.andrealeatherman.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 3, 2011. Morven Park started early for everyone at BDJ Equestrian. Because of Buck’s training sessions for the Pan Am Games, we arrived at Morven Park Tuesday afternoon. We had ten horses total, 3 for students, 1 of mine, and 6 for Buck. Since Bettina Hoy left, I have been trying to implement what I learned from her lessons to what I have taken from Betsy’s and Buck’s lessons. I need to take the bits that work from each lesson. Dressage day turned out to be about 20 degrees colder than it...

Andrea Leatherman: March 2012

http://blog.andrealeatherman.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Healing, Emmy, and SCPC! Wow…so much has happened in the past few weeks. Buck has been trying to heal….of course he has still been hectically teaching, coaching, and managing everything. I will repeat again that it is amazing how much everyone has helped over the past few weeks, from each person in the barn stepping up that extra bit more, to the support of his owners, the community, and to fellow riders Bruce, Hannah, and Phillip. Seeing as that was not going to happen, I asked ...

Andrea Leatherman: September 2011

http://blog.andrealeatherman.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 24, 2011. New Horse, Plantation, and Bettina Hoy Oh My! When I planned on writing after Plantation Field, I had no idea I would have so much to write about! Before I went to England, I went to look at a little 5 yo TB mare, Neveah, in a H/J barn just 40 minutes from our farm. I seem to be the small Tb mare queen! She was an amazing jumper, but I knew I was leaving for England the next day to look at several horses. Through our trip,. I kept thinking about Neveah. Buck and I have been ...

Andrea Leatherman: ICP

http://blog.andrealeatherman.com/2012/10/icp.html

Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Ill try to keep this short and sweet, I could write a ton on my ICP experience…. Earlier this year I was approached by Tim Holekamp about attending the ICP workshop at their place in Missouri. At that point I had heard about ICP, but was a little uncertain as to the benefits of doing the program. It wasn’t required and to be honest, do students really care if I am certified or not? The program costs a fair amount of money, as well as takes several days from work. So, July 4.

Andrea Leatherman: Blessings in disguise and learning the hard way

http://blog.andrealeatherman.com/2012/05/blessings-in-disguise-and-learning-hard.html

Monday, May 21, 2012. Blessings in disguise and learning the hard way. Spring season is gone and we are now all in Riegelsville, Pa. Reflecting back on the season, and the past event, I can say I learned a lot. Perhaps the record as a whole is not as great as I would like, but as always it’s a learning curve. As obvious, I have been having a bumpy patch with Emmy on x-country. Her dressage is competitive and we can get consistent clear rounds, or 1 rail. Show jumping was beautiful. Although x-country was...

Riding to B: Snow Shenanigans!

http://ridingtob.blogspot.com/2016/01/snow-shenanigans.html

The Four Ponies in My Backyard. Wednesday, January 27, 2016. As I'm sure everyone is aware this past weekend Winter Storm Jonas harassed much of the Mid Atlantic region. Here in the foothills of NC/SC we got our fair share of the snow (though nothing compared to DC and up areas! But nonetheless a lot of snow for this area with a total ranging from 6"-8"ish. Why I have to buy good blankets- the boys like to play! Zion, Nova, and Jello running through the woods. The dogs were jumping up and down at the doo...

http://ridingtob.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

The Four Ponies in My Backyard. Thursday, May 21, 2015. WindRidge HT Dressage- Beginner Novice Test B video. So I realized a day after I had already published my previous post with the Dressage and Stadium recap that I didn't include the video of the Dressage test. Unfortunately this was the only video I got all weekend because my husband sucks at using the video camera! But I held my tongue and vowed to find someone else to video my rides because eventually I'd like to see how my horse goes! Stadium at ...

The Four Ponies in My Backyard. Sunday, June 21, 2015. Having to Much Fun in Iceland. Currently I'm sitting in an apartment in downtown Reykjavik relaxing for a brief moment after 5 days exploring Iceland! So many fun hysterical moments and we're not done yet! But the PONIES.er horses. are absolutely AMAZING. They are hardy, cute, and so smooth to ride. And the hair! Did I mention the HAIR? Forlocks and mane in abundance! Only on a calendar! The Four Ponies in My Backyard. Wednesday, May 20, 2015. WindRidge HT- Dressage and Stadium Recap. FENCE HT- pc Liz Crawley Photography. The weekend of May 9-10 was WindRidge Horse Trials. I took Chimi for our 2nd outing this season and our 2nd Beginner Novice. Coming off of a successful show at FENCE a couple of weeks ago I was looking to improve our Dressage and have an equally successful Stadium and Cross Country ride. It seriously could not of been a more perfect spot for the day! All pictures in thi...

The Four Ponies in My Backyard. Sunday, April 26, 2015. FENCE Horse Trials Recap- 2 weeks later. Chimi hanging out in my mom's front field. Ok so I am not the best at getting my posts written and up in a timely fashion. I must say cudos to those that do! But here is a quick little blurb about how our first horse trials of the year/season went! Even if it is two weeks late. though I do have a good excuse! Can I just eat grass please. I breathed a sigh of relief and then thought WTF? After having a break b...

Hypernom – a 4D VR Game. Is a 4D VR game that I’ve been working on with Vi Hart, Henry Segerman, and Marc ten Bosch. We’ve already talked about it on the eleVR blog. You can see the code on Github. Read about the math behind the game in our paper. And see our presentation about it at Bridges 2015. So I thought I would try something a bit different in my blog post…. In which I explain our new game using only the ten hundred most used words. Go try it out now! This entry was posted in Life. August 7, 2015.
