I make things, read alot, and am a casualty of the human condition. I also prefer to be publically wrong rather than silently right. When I quit my job to do nothing. Yesterday I left my job of two years. My last scheduled day was on Friday the 13th, which was nice. The universe has a sense of humor. What happens to all the people that apply for tech jobs that clearly arent ready for them? I was reading this blog post. By Mikael Cho, and I found it fascinating. How to do the same thing, but better.

How to do the same thing, but better

http://blog.andrewsking.com/how-to-do-better

I make things, read alot, and am a casualty of the human condition. I also prefer to be publicly wrong rather than silently right. How to do the same thing, but better. Most of the things we do, we only do for part of our lives. It is for this reason that I am implementing a three step plan into my life to attempt to make better decisions. Step One: Wardrobe. I have replaced all my tops with a pile of plain white tee-shirts, and plain charcoal running tops. Next phase of this is to replace my pan...Step ...

Things to do

http://blog.andrewsking.com/things-to-do

I make things, read alot, and am a casualty of the human condition. I also prefer to be publicly wrong rather than silently right. Brew your own beer. Build something with wood or bricks. Get a tailored suit. Live in a hotel for at least a week. Learn how to cook something WELL. Vote And mean it. Give something to your offspring. Do your own damn chores. Or be baller enough to treat those who do them for you like VIPs. Buy a car for pleasure. Drive somewhere by yourself. Have a personal style.

The Importance of Focus

http://blog.andrewsking.com/the-importance-of-focus

I make things, read alot, and am a casualty of the human condition. I also prefer to be publicly wrong rather than silently right. The Importance of Focus. This has been a tumultous and disruptive time in my life. It is unfortunate that these moments of clarity only come in the times when we have the least control to use it. This is how I feel right now. The parties and the movies and the shopping have distracted me from pursuing that which I really need to be alive. Comments powered by Disqus.

I make things, read alot, and am a casualty of the human condition. I also prefer to be publicly wrong rather than silently right. When I quit my job to do nothing. Yesterday I left my job of two years. My last scheduled day was on Friday the 13th, which was nice. The universe has a sense of humor. By the time I had left, I was leaving behind a team where I had interviewed half of the people. I was generally respected and liked (for the most part). I had given some time back to the community. Sometimes I...

The Low Bar

http://blog.andrewsking.com/the-low-bar

I make things, read alot, and am a casualty of the human condition. I also prefer to be publicly wrong rather than silently right. What happens to all the people that apply for tech jobs that clearly arent ready for them? Many companies (such as RockThePost. Test, those who fail cant even apply (a pleasant way to do rejection). This frees up more time to be spent between those in the right realm of skill. Who cant FizzBuzz, but are programmers. Where do they go? What jobs do they get?

Friday, October 19, 2012. Back dat platter up. Time to install Windows 8 on this old laptop. Oh crap what will I do with my old docs? I finally came across a backup service that was cheap and from a company I can be sure will be around for awhile. I'm talking about Amazon Glacier. You may or may not have heard of it, since it was released just two months ago, and it's heavily developer focused. Meaning there's an API but no official GUI or console. I tried one of them, glacier-cmd. The service is extreme...
