The ChatterBox: July 2014
http://chattertonfam.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 20, 2014. Church is long. Worth it, but long. When we finally open the chapel doors and let the kids out, they run. And run. And run. We get home and ravenously eat. Then Ben and I try to nap while the kids bounce off the walls. This does not work very well. So now we have a new Sunday tradition. This is to prevent the children from clawing our eyes out and chewing through the walls. We figured we could handle two nights this year. When we arrived at Oxbow we were immediately greeted by deer...

The ChatterBox: February 2014
http://chattertonfam.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 28, 2014. Barfing and Exploring Southeast Portland. We had an interesting week. One day of barf. One day out on the town. Another day of barf. Another day of discovery. The days we were stuck inside weren't all bad. We watched a lot of TV and did a lot of puzzles. Actually, we did the same two puzzles over and over again. If I have to do that princess puzzle one more time I may end up being the one to barf all over it. Who puts the playground on top of the mountain? In spite of the cold,...

The ChatterBox: Wedding
http://chattertonfam.blogspot.com/p/our-wedding.html
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. I mean, there were some things that didn't go quite as planned and some bumps in the road, but I wouldn't change a thing. We held a dinner the night before the wedding so that the actual wedding day would be less stressful and busy. We had an opportunity to gather with close friends and family, which is what really matters, right? Our reception was beautiful and perfect. My uncle and aunt offered their backyard in Sandy for the celebration and it turned out bet...

The ChatterBox: Utah 2014
http://chattertonfam.blogspot.com/2014/09/utah-2014.html
Monday, September 1, 2014. We started off our summer of fun by heading to Utah to see my family for a couple of weeks. We had a great time, as always, visiting friends and family. It's so nice to have a few extra hands to play with the kids! If you want to be the most popular kids at the Portland Airport, make sure to get some Voodoo Doughnuts to share with your out-of-state friends and family. Tommy is always coming up with new tricks to do as he goes up and down the slides, too. It was pretty amazing.

The ChatterBox: Courtship
http://chattertonfam.blogspot.com/p/our-courtship.html
Where do we even begin? It's a fun story, maybe a bit long, but I never get tired of it. The Second First Date. The Second Date (and when we finally became "official"). I really didn't know what to expect the next day. We had snuggled a lot the night before, but I wasn't sure what that meant. Were we a couple? Would he regret it? The Decision to Get Married. Sunday, September 28, 2014. The Never Ending Block Party - Summer 2014. My love affair with Portland continues. This summer we have had an amazing time taking advantage of all the free programs offered through Portland Parks and Rec. Ben rightly describes Portland as a nonstop block party during the summer. The location changes, but the party's always going :). Portland is simply an amazing place to live if you like awesome people and communities, especially if you have kids. Discovering a new beach.

The ChatterBox: April 2014
http://chattertonfam.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 13, 2014. Gosh, where to start? It's been a couple of months since I last posted. Not a whole lot has really happened, except that it's really beautiful outside and we love Portland. And I'm probably going to buy a new bike soon, which is the biggest news I can think of. I'll start with that. You can't say that about motorists, unfortunately. Biking on the gorgeous Springwater Corridor Trail. We biked 14 miles that day, still our all-time high for one day. It's good to get a Rolling Jackass.

Acting Dead, Trading Up and Leaving the Middle Class
http://www.ribbonfarm.com/2011/12/08/acting-dead-trading-up-and-leaving-the-middle-class
Experiments in refactored perception. Acting Dead, Trading Up and Leaving the Middle Class. December 8, 2011. I want to share the story behind approximately $2700 dollars worth of my spending this year that reveals how I am finally starting to leave the middle class, materially, financially and psychologically. No, I am not moving up into the rich class or down into the poor class. I am doing something complicated called. One reason is that I still have residual middle-class financial programming. Being ...
