I have more questions than answers: August 2009
http://ihavemorequestionsthananswers.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
I have more questions than answers. The blogging of a constantly questioning vicar. Monday, 10 August 2009. I'm on holiday - for three whole weeks. A few days in and the weather has returned to be 'typical' British summer - grey clouds, not particularly warm, you get my drift! However, we have had a few days of good weather and we're off to the South. Of France on Friday where the weather is good and hopefully will continue to be so. A couple of other minor things' childcare for MPs. Sport My beloved Har...

My Gospel, Right or Wrong: A tidying up exercise
http://draytonparslow.blogspot.com/2010/09/tidying-up-exercise.html
My Gospel, Right or Wrong. Sunday, 26 September 2010. A tidying up exercise. Don't go getting all excited, thinking Drayton is back. No, this is his wife, Marjorie, writing. Drayton ran away yet again - he always does when things get a bit warm. And having read through the postings on this blog I can see why. So I've removed them all. A terrible temptation to the simple-minded in my opinion. But in the meantime this is it. Calm, dispassionate blessings in the Lord. 26 September 2010 at 10:55. Ian Nesbit ...

A Brief Encounter: May 2015
http://abriefencounter.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Political correctness does not legislate tolerance; it only organises hatred." Jacques Barzun. Wednesday, May 27, 2015. The death of the Liberal Democrats RIP was brought into sharp focus on Sky News this morning. Representatives of the three main parties were introduced, but the woman in yellow was not a Liberal Democrat RIP but a Scottish Nazionalist. Links to this post. Tuesday, May 19, 2015. The Death of the Labour Party? Judging by the wailing and gnashing of pinko liberal teeth the lefties are stil...

Political correctness does not legislate tolerance; it only organises hatred." Jacques Barzun. Monday, February 22, 2010. Geraldine Smith MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale. As a general election approaches it's important that the spotlight is turned on MPs seeking re-election as well as PPCs. Yesterday I posted about my local MP, Geraldine Smith, and the story of her guzzling champagne in a drinking contest with another champagne socialist MP. Today I reproduce an article about her expenses from the. Moreca...

A Brief Encounter: Time For A Yorkshireman Joke
http://abriefencounter.blogspot.com/2012/03/time-for-yorkshireman-joke.html
Political correctness does not legislate tolerance; it only organises hatred." Jacques Barzun. Friday, March 16, 2012. Time For A Yorkshireman Joke. As a Lancastrian from Manchester it's great fun taking the mickey out of Yorkshiremen and Scousers, and they love having a pop at us just as much. But I've had many a pop at Scousers on here so here's a joke about Yorkshiremen:. He explodes - "Fooking 'ell man, you've left the fooking "e" out, you've left the fooking "e" out! I'd love to give you the part" h...

A Brief Encounter: General Election 2015-Morecambe and Lunesdale, Amina Lone, Labour Party
http://abriefencounter.blogspot.com/2015/04/general-election-2015-morecambe-and_22.html
Political correctness does not legislate tolerance; it only organises hatred." Jacques Barzun. Wednesday, April 22, 2015. General Election 2015-Morecambe and Lunesdale, Amina Lone, Labour Party. On April 10th I blogged about our declared candidates here in Morecambe and Lunesdale constituency and remarked how our Labour Party candidate lived around 70 miles away in Gorton, Manchester. It seems she has goofed by attacking the 'Tory' candidate for living outside the constituency, 50 yards outside. When lea...

The Ugley Vicar: The Place of Dogma and Emotion in Evangelism
http://ugleyvicar.blogspot.com/2007/03/place-of-dogma-and-emotion-in.html
Friday, 9 March 2007. The Place of Dogma and Emotion in Evangelism. 141 EVANGELISM has been defined as confronting the individual soul with the reality of God in Christ. If such a personal presentation of the Gospel is to win the decisive response of Conversion, two requirements are necessary:—. 1) First, the Gospel must be “proclaimed,” as by a herald. In other words, to “preach the Gospel” means preaching Christian dogma. THE PLACE OF DOGMA IN EVANGELISM. THE PLACE OF EMOTION IN EVANGELISM. In all evan...

The Ugley Vicar: The Part of the Laity in Evangelism
http://ugleyvicar.blogspot.com/2007/03/part-of-laity-in-evangelism.html
Friday, 9 March 2007. The Part of the Laity in Evangelism. 112 The inalienable right and duty of the laity to take its full part in the spiritual work of the Church, finds forceful expression all down the Church’s history. [.]. It is not, therefore, as a matter of expediency that we put the mobilisation of the laity for the work of evangelism in the very forefront of our Recommendations. It is a matter of simple obedience to a Divine command. Usually they are pre-occupation and reticence. As we have seen...
