Granular Committing

I’m going to attempt to quickly document my git usage strategy, as doing so seems to be popular lately. My style is slightly different from the one that many others use, so I suppose somebody might be able to learn something from this. First off, some terminology that I’m going to use throughout the document (other than these, standard git terminology applies as well, such as ‘remote’ and ‘upstream.’ In some of these cases, the case of the words is important):. Fed Up with Twitter Support

Fed Up with Twitter Support. To all of you, your support is appreciated! Okay, this is really trying. I’m not sure where to start. Let’s get this out on the table first of all: Twitter’s support team is gone. There have been numerous postings to the only public support system they have by people with the same problem as me: support requests having been unanswered for weeks, months, and in at least one case, a year. Even worse, having the support system declare my request so important as to be. When it re...

Dancing Through Life - Wicked. The trouble with schools is they always try to teach the wrong lesson believe me, Ive been kicked out of enough of them to know they want you to become less callow less shallow but I say: why invite stress in? Stop studying strife, and learn to live - the unexamined life! Dancing through life skimming the surface gliding where turf is smooth Lifes more painless for the brainless Why think too hard? When its so soothing?

Building Ncurses and ncurses-ruby on Leopard

Building Ncurses and ncurses-ruby on Leopard. I just finished spending a week banging my head against a problem in rat. Connection would stop receiving any data (status updates, messages, whatever) whenever. Was looping. This occurred across threads, across Ruby instances, across everything running in the system as far as I could tell (though a lot of this network I/O and terminal control stuff is far over my high-level programming head). It was driving me crazy, until I sought. And then started looping.

Two years later

My one off hacky code usually doesn’t have this kind of longevity. I was working on my résumé. And decided to re enable the navigation section on my landing page. That navigation included a link to this blog, which I had entirely forgotten about; going back to set it back up, I found the content was lost in my server move. Well, luckily, I based my blog on git, right? Were still distributed across multiple hosts. All I had to do was re install the old blogging system I wrote,.

The thoughts of Elliot Lewis. A lot of tech and design, a smattering of art and a smidge of business related musings. Aug 22, 2014. View an event (source code) that's bound to a DOM element with jQuery in Chrome Dev tools. Where's the JS coming from? Chrome's Dev Tools are excellent, and list the Event Listeners bound to a DOM element. At least give me a clue. With a bit of Googling I found the answer but it's tricky to know what to search on (I tried naming this post multiple times). Unsurprisingly ...
