So here’s a smattering of what I’ve been up to the last three days that Mizzou has canceled classes (the first time in the school’s 172 years it has been closed for three consecutive days due to weather). Since my house is near a big park in CoMo (local abbreviation), and I haven’t been able to get out, I’ve been on the natural beauty/recreation angle of this storm. I’ve been emailing my best into the office. Go to the Columbia Missourian. A crack in the ice of Stephens Lake Park mimics a plant hanging o...

Reading reflection: Lamott – False Start, et. al. Categories: Picture Story Spring '11. Lamott starts off the “False Starts” chapter with a story about a painter that I really like. “He keeps covering his work over with white paint each time that he discovers what it isn’t, and each time this brings him closer to discovering what it is.”. I think this is the essence of a photo story. I begin by photographing what someone. Lamott continues, “When you write [photograph] about your characters, we want...

Project Summer: Week 6 – work in progress
http://blog.ivyashe.com/2013/08/project-summer-week-6
Project Summer: Week 6. August 12, 2013. JUNE 28: My favorite time of summer is when the snap peas are in season. Just-picked peas from Morning Glory Farm (or Norton Farm) are about as good as it gets. JULY 1: I went roaming around the Oak Bluffs Harbor this evening and came across these cute dogs on their boat in the water. I asked their owners if I could take a photo, and the girls tried to pose the Yorkies…but that didn’t work so well. Cell phone photo. JULY 4: We don’t get the Fourth of July of...

MV Gazette – work in progress
http://blog.ivyashe.com/tag/mv-gazette
May 13, 2013. Spring has been very slow getting to MV this year. Yesterday, my phone gave me a Freeze Warning, and this morning it was about 38 degrees when I woke up (sigh…). But trees and plants are finally starting to turn green and colorful, and the skies are mostly blue instead of mostly gray. Hooray! Last weekend was “Pink and Green” weekend in Edgartown in honor of Mother’s Day, so I went out to make a photo gallery of various goings-on:. MV at the Garden. March 15, 2013. February 1, 2013. This ye...

Project Summer: Week 5. July 11, 2013. JUNE 21: After yet another week of rain, the sun came out for the first day of summer! JUNE 23: Rise dancers present their teachers with thank-you bouquets after their annual summer performance. The show is long, but the dancers are immensely talented and the choreography and costumes wicked impressive. I finally maneuvered into a decent seat in the auditorium right at the end of the show, so this was one of the photos I liked best. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
