Sewing & Quilt Gallery: August 2015
http://quiltsoflove.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 26, 2015. That's a nice non-descriptive title, huh? If I wrote, "More Hexagons", then half of you would take for the hills. But reality is, I have been doing relatively mundane things, and the hexagons are at the top of the interest list. I am putting a binding on the silk wholecloth. Yippy-do-da! I endeavor to make pretty cakes, but it is very clear I am a better quilter than cake decorator! Almost 9, and sporting all her Paris couture, in Paris no less! I have (I think! The front is p...

Sewing & Quilt Gallery: Springtime in the Geisha's Garden...MQX
http://quiltsoflove.blogspot.com/2014/04/springtime-in-geishas-gardenmqx.html
Monday, April 14, 2014. Springtime in the Geisha's Garden.MQX. It measures just about 60" square (a hair smaller). I started on the dahlia center last March. This center medallion has a dark brown piping between the ivory and the print from the silk Radiance. I have also put silk accents in other areas on the quilt. This fabric is simply addictive, and I love working with it. Here are a few links to the thought process I used during construction. .Here. And many were silk. The hardest areas to design qui...

Sewing & Quilt Gallery: March 2015
http://quiltsoflove.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 30, 2015. This is a crazy time of year for me. Kids are busy with school. And I am taking off for 5 days next week to teach 4 classes and attend MQX in Manchester, NH. I think I am mostly ready for my classes, but those thoughts of doubt always creep in. I don't like surprises much so I have spent a lot of time thinking of lots of different scenarios for the classes. Notice the hot pink at the bottom? That is the backing! The design has some flowers - tulips, petunias, a sunflower and the d...

http://quiltsoflove.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 29, 2015. Smack in the middle of winter.not a whole lot of cooperation with the weather, The day that I tried to take a picture of this entire quilt there was very flat light. But you get the idea.it's 78" of pretty feathered star blocks. And it was destined for a custom job. I am now up to my proverbial eye-balls in snow.two snow days this week (30" fell! Already and a potential 3rd one tomorrow, to give another 8-12". I cannot imagine where we will put it. I am plugging ahead ...The R...

Sewing & Quilt Gallery: Something
http://quiltsoflove.blogspot.com/2015/07/something.html
Monday, July 13, 2015. While the title "Something" isn't terribly exciting or descriptive, it is less monotonous than another post entitled "Puttering"! While the lack of schedule in the summer has some benefits, I don't find it conducive to my need and desire to produce, and to create. Never the less, in the last 3 weeks I have done 5 edge to edge quilts. Yup, that is all. Two are lap sized also! Here are three that are heading home to Erin in IA today. The pantograph is called Flying Paisley. The goals...

Wednesday, June 17, 2015. NQA Show and.Masterpiece Quilt! This post is a bit of a horn tooting. I am happy to share my successes, and techniques that I feel readers can benefit from. This is my quilt, Bouquet Royale, hanging at NQA with it's new "Masterpiece Quilt" bling! NQA has just about the nicest ribbons in the business! So here'...

Sewing & Quilt Gallery: AQS Albuquerque
http://quiltsoflove.blogspot.com/2015/01/aqs-albuquerque.html
Tuesday, January 20, 2015. There's no having bad stitches when you are being examined this closely! I am happy to see that the colored thread does show. I need, however, to check the blocking when it gets back home, as it hangs with definite folds. Being in a box since early December doesnt help that. This is my favorite clamshell fill. Posted by Margaret Solomon Gunn. Becky (My Fabric Obsession). Congratulations on a well deserved blue ribbon. This one is jaw dropping-ly gorgeous! WOW*such a work of art!

Sewing & Quilt Gallery: Zebras are in town
http://quiltsoflove.blogspot.com/2015/07/zebras-are-in-town.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Zebras are in town. As of yesterday, here is the stack of 9 hexie blocks that have received their zebra borders. The blocks are essentially appliqued onto 6 pieces of zebra print. It is pretty quick, maybe an hour per block. These blocks are now hexagons with sides about 7 to 7-1/2" per size. I told you I didn't really want to use the hexies in any conventional way. Hope you didn't think I was kidding! Posted by Margaret Solomon Gunn. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). With 3 lit...
