Hold the front page: virtualisation isn't new apparently. I'm just posting a release emailed to me as I haven't found an online version of the release yet. I'm not sure that there are many articles that claim virtualisation was invented recently, particularly as IBM has been selling VM/370 for donkey's years (the clue's in the name), and I assume that the work John Walker is referring to here is the research that spawned VM. ISACA expert claims virtualisation dates back to 1960s. I have one question: why?

Link culture - HackingCough

http://blog.hackingcough.com/2010/06/inline-links-versus-links-at-end.htm

You’d think after 20 years, people would have worked out how to compose links on the World Wide Web. But Nick Carr, who is very exercised about distraction in modern society…. Oh look, kittens. 8230;has wondered aloud whether inline links, the very stuff of blog-writing, are a good idea or not. Because they convince people to stop reading here and go reading there. One post recommended a technological solution. So, I’d argue for someone who is aware of a thread of stories, the inline link format is.

You go one way, MeeGo the other. Because February has at least one 'R' in it, Nokia has launched another mobile operating system based around an open-source project. Asked about Nokia's plans for mobile operating systems. If you look upon Nokia's strategy for software as being "if you fling enough stuff at a wall, some of it will eventually stick" then, yes, that's entirely consistent. Laquo; December 2009. Get real paid - HackingCough

Tom Whitwell, assistant editor at. And responsible for developing the newspaper’s paywalled online site, did not hide his irritation at some of the helpful advice dished up by internet observers since the decision to ask people for money to read the news. 8220;How it’s been reported: it’s like we haven’t noticed [the problems],” said Whitwell in a session on paid-for sites at the News Rewired. 8220;We looked at how we could expand the site. We looked at how much money that expansion would bring in an...

Musings on PR, technology and …. The Bake-Off is back and it’s even better than before. My vote is for …. David! I wasn’t expecting to like Alex’s concoction, but was actually extremely good. However, a good bakewell tart is always going to get my vote – and its a good bakewell tart. My vote goes to the Peanut butter-Marshmallow-rice krispy ‘cake’. Big Fan of bakewell tart, but the texture of the chewy marshmallow mess took me straight back to my kids birthdays parties. Lovely! David’s bakewell was...

Don’t mess with the press | Put Simply

https://putsimply.wordpress.com/2010/08/10/theres-no-stopping-the-press

Musings on PR, technology and …. Don’t mess with the press. There have been a couple of stories already this week that have illustrated just how hard it is now to stop both the media and the general public from talking about you – and the harder you try, the more they talk. Used the first part of its match report to complain about the decision and then for the rest refused to name Southampton, instead just calling them ‘the opposition.’. In contrast the Plymouth Herald. Also in the news. Next Post ».

Better, but not much | Put Simply

https://putsimply.wordpress.com/2010/09/13/better-but-not-much

Musings on PR, technology and …. Better, but not much. It’s been too long since I’ve contributed to this blog and a lot has happened not least of which an iPhone 4 acquisition which, from what I can see, is a faster, grown-up, very nicely engineered iPhone. But it’s not really all that different from what went before. What's over there, behind that idiot with the iPhone? I’m normally pretty capable with a box of tools but the sheer scale of an iPhone assembly made me realise that my eyesight and de...

Scary dark silicon is here today - Shrinking Violence Blog

http://blog.shrinkingviolence.com/2009/10/scary-dark-silicon-is-here-tod.html

Scary dark silicon is here today. October 22, 2009 10:02 AM. Mike Muller apparently delivered a bit of Halloween scare material at his keynote at ARM Techcon in Santa Clara yesterday. Rick Merritt of EETimes summed up the warning. Muller's claim sounds scary but, in reality, the idea of dark silicon is happening today, not ten years from now. It's a technique that Apple seems likely to use in its own-design ARM processor. As Francis Sideco of iSuppli pointed out last year using the example of a seemi...

Raygun.Owin v0.1.17-beta Released. It’s been over a year now since v0.1.0 of Raygun.Owin. Was released. This version was pretty rough around the edges but it served its purpose for what I needed. I’ve been wanting to update this for awhile and so recently I pulled the code into another project I’m working on and started to rewrite it. This update attempts to bring Raygun.Owin more inline with the Raygun4Net. Continue reading →. This entry was posted in Announcements. And tagged asp.net. December 12, 2014.
