Lunch – Smoked Wings. 10 June, 2015. I sauced them with a mixture of 1/2c Frank’s Hot Wing Sauce. And 1/3c wildflower honey. I think next time, I might do less of the wing sauce. Maybe a 50/50 split to tone down some of the heat. They were fantastic. Wings, rubbed and smoked for an hour over hickory at 350F. Sauced with a mix of Frank’s Hot Wing Sauce and Honey. First Brisket on the New Smoker. 2 April, 2015. So, earlier this year, the best wife ever agreed to let me go out and get myself a smoker. I ended up deciding on the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker, 22.5″. I probably would have been fine with the smaller 18.5″ one, but figured since I wanted to try my hand at brisket, I’d go for the bigger one. Rubbed and ready…. Getting the cooker ready…. Out of the foil. Cross-section after a slice. Look at that smoke ring! New Years Dinner – Smoked Tri-Tip. 1/4 cup Extra...

Musings on fiction writing, cycling, and software. Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Worst Day of the Year Ride. With a name like that, how can you not love it? The Worst Day of the Year Ride. I haven't dressed up, but I've ridden the 45-mile challenge course twice now. Both times, contrary to the name, the weather has been spectacular- cool but dry, bright winter sunshine. Cross over the St. Johns Bridge and then mosey back into town. There is a shorter, urban course (around 15 miles or so), part of which o...

Building things and sounds. Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Software Developers Are Like Cats. Software developers are like cats. The like to sit on high perches and look down at you. They'll all gather together, in a hurry, when you have food. Corollary: when you have food, they love you. When you don't, you're just a nuisance to them. They like to play with something until the thing breaks, and then move on to find something new to play with and leave the thing they broke for someone else to clean up.

Random thoughts and daily notes wrapped up nicely for your reading pleasure. I recently worked on a problem from leetcode that asked for an integer reversal. No big deal, I’ve done this type of problem with strings before so I can’t imagine it’s that difficult. Welp, it was. Well, we can divide it digit by digit. Thi...
