Friday, January 9, 2015. In January I finished the fourth Color Prints piece:. And three pieces that were started in the 2013 Nancy Crow workshop:. Then in the first week of March I headed off to Indianola for two weeks with Nancy Crow. The first week we had two exercises, one was "the minis" where we took a simple motif and repeated many, many small copies of it with different color combinations. It was interesting to see how the motif morphed into texture in different ways. In Black and White. Nancy wa...

Magic Moon Musings: Cutwork embroidery on my needlebook
http://magicmoonmusings.blogspot.com/2015/07/cutwork-embroidery-on-my-needlebook.html
Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Cutwork embroidery on my needlebook. This is my first attempt at cutwork embroidery. I love it! The fabric insert behind each circle was added after the buttonholing was finished, secured with backstitch right along the edge of the buttonholing. I added blue marker to the seam allowance of each circle so the pink fabric wouldn't show through. The doodles are Zig Memory System 'Writer' markers, heat set with an iron. Some very wonky buttonhole cutwork! But practice makes perfect.

The color of some hydrangeas depends on the acidity of the soil they’re growing in. Ours range from blue to purple, as our soil is more acid. More alkaline soils will produce pink flowers. My fascination with our relationship with billions of microbial fellow travelers was a huge influence! Again, I highly recommend the book, I Contain Multitudes.
