Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Paintcan pinhole camera, paper negative, 15-minute exposure, developed in caffenol C, colorized in Photoshop. Okso it is really just a weed growing out of the cement, not a tree. I pass it every time I walk in or out the door. I cheer it on as it struggles to grow out of the cement, knowing that I can live with my own struggles, as it does. Image made August 21, 2012. Thursday, May 31, 2012. Hotel room camera obscura. Quick handheld photo of a camera obscura image inside a hotel room. Husband and I had a blast making this impromptu life-sized camera obscura, out of our hotel room this morning! We had to get up and drive home from our vacation today, and the thought to try this experiment popped into my mind as I was waking up. If you look at the top of the image, you will see one of my kids, still lying in bed. Labels: Obscur(a) Photography Series. This is a blog of m...

Monday, September 16, 2013. Project 365-ish: September 15, 2013. We have had a really good monsoon season this year! It's been wet enough to coax the early spring poppies to bloom! When we get enough fall and winter rain, they bloom in March through April. Usually, there isn't enough rain for that to happen, and we get a modest bloom every few years or so. We didn't get a bloom this spring, but boy howdy, they came in August! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 3,000 images- Pinhole Day, 2013!

Gingerbreadcam" pinhole camera w/ 10 zones, skip 2 zoneplate, paper negative, 3 minute exposure , developed in Caffenol C. I think I am figuring out my focal lengths and exposure times with this particular zoneplate- at least under lower light conditions. I really am enjoying the softness and glow! Aka: vintage camera and caffenol). What fun it is to own a pair of 1953 Brownie Hawkeye Cameras, a mighty find from a local thrift store! I have processed most of these images in a homemade developer consisting of instant coffee crystals, Borax, and vitamin C tablets. (aka:"caffenol") It's a slow and forgiving solution, and there is an element of fun in creating art with the help of kitchen chemistry! Please feel free to email me. That's a lot of time squeezed onto one photograph! The 6 images you see to the right are "time lapse" images of the sun tracking through the sky over weeks to months! Each negative is then digitally scanned, and then processed in a photo editor to invert to a positive image. The image must not have more exposure to light beyond this scan, unless it is chemically fixed to prevent further reaction with light. Please feel free to email me. An important part of my photography is being innovative with every day, "low tech" means of creating images. I find it very satisfying to make photographs from the cameras I construct with my own hands. I feel this camera-crafting process is nearly as important to me as making the images themselves. Hand-applied onto various print surfaces. The 6 images to the right were contact printed in the darkroom to various surfaces, after treating the surface with a silver liquid emulsion. A digitally-generated paper negative of the image is first created in a photo editor, and then is applied directly to the prepared surface as part of the contact printing process. The exposed surface is processed with standard geletan silver darkroom chemistry. Please feel free to email me. Contact print to watercolor paper.

Playing with color in pinhole images. This summer, I have been experimenting with adding color to my black-and-white pinhole images. I am adding the color (and texture too) digitally, in Photoshop.

It has been a long time between posts, my friends, and for that I apologise. Does anyone else feel like the past 4 months have flown by in an instant? Monday, July 03, 2017. I got renewed as an MVP. I’m happy and honored to announce I got awarded as an Azure MVP for the coming year. Since 2007 I made it as an ASP.NET MVP until last year where I became an Azure and Visual Studio Development and Technologies MVP. As I’ve been doing more and more in the Azure space it goes naturally that I didn’t make it in the VS Development and Technologies space this year. I’ll see if I can earn that one again next year back. Thursday, March 30, 2017. Which provides yo...

D Weddings Hollywood Glam Gowns. Cara & Mike. It doesn’t happen too often that Thomas and I don’t work together at weddings. At Cara’s and Mike’s wedding Thomas did an amazing job by himself. They were a very fun couple to work with. In Midtown Manhattan and a separate celebration upstate at the Pioneer Camp. In Angola, NY where they are both from with nearly 200 of their family and friends. The guys started their day at Eddie’s Haircut and Shave. The girls got ready at the Mariott. New York City wedding.
