Program a Duino with your RPI and then debug it - Matt Norman Blog

http://mattnorman.co.uk/2015/RasPio-Duino-and-Pi-Debug-Clip-Kickstarters

Piffle and waffle from my world. Program a Duino with your RPI and then debug it. Back the RasPio Duino and Pi Debug Clip Kickstarters. I’m watching (and backing) a couple of Kickstarter projects at the moment the RasPio Duino. And the Pi Debug Clip. And they are both funded. As they are both in the last day of their campaigns I thought I would briefly mention them here as they are both relevant to what I have been writing about of late. The first is the RasPio Duino. Back the RaspIO Duino project here.

Building a RichRap 3dr - Part 2 - Swirling metal and sore fingers - Matt Norman Blog

http://mattnorman.co.uk/2015/RichRap-3DR-Part-2-Cutting-the-columns

Piffle and waffle from my world. Building a RichRap 3dr - Part 2 - Swirling metal and sore fingers. And much more fiddly than I first thought. I first of all tried to drill into the extrusion with a 10mm bit and a hand held drill. This was dangerous! The larger drill bound in the extrusion gap thus nearly rending me on the floor in an un-gentlemanly fashion. Back to Part 1. Next part: Assembling the frame. Blog comments powered by Disqus. Building a RichRap 3DR- Part 6 - Preparing to print - Matt Norman Blog

http://mattnorman.co.uk/2015/RichRap-3DR-Part-6-Preparing-to-print

Piffle and waffle from my world. Building a RichRap 3DR- Part 6 - Preparing to print. Thought you were nearly there? It was an exciting event when I powered up my new RichRap 3DR which I had built with myself. The fans started humming and the LCD screen lit up and started telling me things. The control knob on the screen seems to work OK - although there is a slight delay on the interface updating. Pressing in the control knob gives a select action and an annoyingly loud beep. But there was a problem&#46...

Piffle and waffle from my world. Building a RichRap 3dr - Part 1. My first journey into 3D printers. The printer kit arrived in less than a week - much quicker than I was expecting and it was quite a thing to unpack it - many many parts. I did wonder if I had don't the right thing when I was unpacking it as at that point I thought I had paid a lot for what I was unpacking. Here is what I got:. Set of printed parts. The well labled hardware. Most of the electronics. And the hot end. In the end I put a kit...

Building a Raspberry PI system in a flight case - Matt Norman Blog

http://mattnorman.co.uk/2015/Building-a-Raspberry-PI-system-in-a-toy-flight-case

Piffle and waffle from my world. Building a Raspberry PI system in a flight case. Part 1 - mounting a TFT screen in the lid. When I blogged about my Pi2 I hinted at my original Raspberry Pi project - which revolves around a small aluminium ‘flight case’ which originally contained a card game. Once of the things I wanted to do was to put a decent HDMI monitor in it, and it happened that you can get 7inch ones quite cheaply from eBay. But I couldn’t activate the buttons through the holes - even with a pen,...

Raspberry Pi 2 - Matt Norman Blog

http://mattnorman.co.uk/2015/Raspberry-Pi-2

Piffle and waffle from my world. Early adoption or jumping on the bandwagon? The boards are approximately the same size as you can see in the picture at the top of the post - but a few things have been moved around. The first thing I noticed was the micro-usb power socket which has moved to an adjacent side. This nearly messed up a future project - until I realised that the Pi will leech power from a USB hub so you don’t actually need to pump power via the micro-sd. Why did I buy it? Well I just thought ...

Building a RichRap 3dr - Part 5 - Wiring it all up and completing the build - Matt Norman Blog

http://mattnorman.co.uk/2015/3dr-Part-5-Wiring-it-all-up-and-completing-the-build-

Piffle and waffle from my world. Building a RichRap 3dr - Part 5 - Wiring it all up and completing the build. The brains of my 3DR kit is an Arduino system, which has a piggyback board called RAMPS which has the motor controllers. Each Servo on the RAMPS board has a ‘stepper stick’ which contains probably the components most likely to blow if something is configured wrong. In the end after quite a bit of head scratching I came up with this position to mount the arduino stack:. Once the stack was mounted ...

Building a RichRap 3dr - Part 3 - Assembling the frame - Matt Norman Blog

http://mattnorman.co.uk/2015/RichRap-3dr-Part-3-Assembling-the-frame

Piffle and waffle from my world. Building a RichRap 3dr - Part 3 - Assembling the frame. Now its beginning to look like it should. My next worry was cutting the wires that connect to the control board. I was unsure if I ought to do this - but had little choice unless I wanted to run the wires on the outside of the extrusion. So I cut off the plugs about 2 inches away from the board socket - and I'll need to re-connect these again later on. Next - A fiddly bit! Blog comments powered by Disqus. Who lives i...

My travels and other random stuff. One day traditional, the next modern. April 15th, 2015. We ended our last two days in Korea with a couple of homestay experiences (via AirBNB) that complemented each other really well. Most of the time with AirBNB, you dont actually see your host, except for possibly a brief meeting to get the keys. These two were a little different. Both were excellent experiences and Karen and I were glad the boys got a chance to get some closer exposure to regular Korean people. ...

Lean and DRY CSS using Sass. I recently attempting to recreate a bare-bones Bootstrap-like grid system for a project and started delving a little deeper into the compilation process behind Sass.
