Robin's Blue Skies: January 2011
http://robinsblueskies.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 31, 2011. FTC Robotics: The Tournament #1. Yesterday was our very very first time as a team competing in an FTC tournament. Wow, was that exciting! It came down to the wire on Friday and Saturday with marathon sessions to get the robot ready to pass inspection and be allowed to compete. Then bright and early Sunday morning we all piled into the vans and drove to Portland for the tournament. After that, it's time for the exciting part of the competition: five rounds on the robot arena, pai...

Saturday, September 11, 2010. Yeah, he's big. Yeah, he's fourteen now! And of course it wouldn't be a birthday post without a gratuitous photo from way back when. So here's my little guy in 2003, seven years or half his life ago. In many ways, so much the same person. In so many ways, completely different. In all ways, a beautiful person that we love very much. Happy Birthday 'Kenzie! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Cool Folks Who Follow This Blog. Day in Our Lives.

Robin's Blue Skies: Homework Into Video Games, By Mackenzie
http://robinsblueskies.blogspot.com/2010/12/homework-into-video-games-by-mackenzie.html
Sunday, December 05, 2010. Homework Into Video Games, By Mackenzie. If you want to see it in action, you can download his game. From Google Docs. It doesn't have any viruses, I promise. He programmed it in GameMaker 8. Which he highly recommends. He says it allows you to do object-oriented programming, it's easy to learn, and you can make stand-alone executables like the simple one that he made for this project. You can even sell them (unlike stuff you make in programs like Scratch). This is so cool!

Everymom To Ironmom: Exchange Between A Motorist and a Cyclist
http://ironmom.blogspot.com/2013/06/exchange-between-motorist-and-cyclist.html
Join me on Everymom's journey to ultimate health and fitness. Journey of the Body. Journey of the Mind and Soul. Friday, June 14, 2013. Exchange Between A Motorist and a Cyclist. Not all interactions between cyclists and car drivers are negative. Yesterday I stopped my bike when I realized a big newt crossing the road was about to get flattened by the oncoming car. As I bent over to retrieve the newt, the car driver stopped and the following exchange occurred:. Driver: Are you okay? Miles of the Journey.

Yumminess Ensues: Home Made Sausages- vegetarians beware*
http://yumminessnsues.blogspot.com/2009/03/home-made-sausages-vegetarians-beware.html
Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Home Made Sausages- vegetarians beware*. I'm not sure where making my own sausage falls in that description. Around here, lots of people make deer bologna in the fall, after hunting season, so I guess making sausage doesn't really put me too far out of the norm for central Pennsylvania. Well, at least the sausage making doesn't put me there, I can't speak to the rest of what I do. And I have been having a conversation about a kind of Eastern European sausage called cevapi. Chuck ...

Sunday, July 12, 2009. An amazing road to recovery. I love each and every one of you and am incredibly glad that you are all alive too:) Sorry, but I do think that I have the right to be cheezy;). So to update, we have been traveling constantly since the accident. We went to the rivah the day after the accident where it was a perfect place for me to recover with my mom and dad being there and a beautiful place to sit and breathe in the fresh river air and soak in the beauty of the sunsets. It is this gor...

Yumminess Ensues: April 2009
http://yumminessnsues.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 13, 2009. The other day I made THE BEST dinner for myself. It involved some cooked rice and barley, and some left-over taco meat, both of which needed to be used up. It also involved garlic, onion, olive oil, part of a red bell pepper and 2 eggs and a little cheese. It was so incredibly tasty I was in paroxysms of delight, probably wiggling like Juniper. I was really excited, thinking this meal would be even better. Exactly, but unfortunate. Maybe instead of using a 1:2 ratio of rice/barley...

Yumminess Ensues: Pumpkin Penne with Sage
http://yumminessnsues.blogspot.com/2009/11/pumpkin-penne-with-sage.html
Thursday, November 5, 2009. Pumpkin Penne with Sage. Last week, my friend called me to ask if I wanted two large pumpkins she had purchased to can. She had run into a snag, and the pumpkins were languishing on her porch, admonishing her every time she walked past them. At any rate, it is only considered safe to can cubed pumpkin. This was sufficiently upsetting to my friend that she was unable to move forward with canning the pumpkin. And a very large neck pumpkin. I had 3 butternut squash. I also had a ...

Yumminess Ensues: Bacon Explosion Meatloaf- yet another post unsuitable for vegetarians!
http://yumminessnsues.blogspot.com/2009/04/bacon-explosion-meatloaf-yet-another.html
Thursday, April 2, 2009. Bacon Explosion Meatloaf- yet another post unsuitable for vegetarians! Sometime around Superbowl Sunday, I saw news coverage of a culinary delight called the Bacon Explosion. This smoked sausage "fatty" was developed by a couple of Kansas City BBQ competitors, and as it's name suggests, consists of bacon, pork sausage and more bacon. I was intrigued, and sort of grossed out. I did some research and emailed the information to my husband, sons and one of my sisters. We rolled the s...
