The Blue Whale - Restoring a 1975 Travco Motorhome: September 2013
http://bluetravco.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, 22 September 2013. After having replaced the right side exhaust manifold with a used one, Dad also had to work on the left side manifold. The gasket had a slight leak, and the manifold had a corner broken off. The manifold was not replaced, but Dad took it off and reinstalled it with a new gasket. Of course that didn't make the nut much tighter, so Dad had to properly fix this. Here's this infamous stud, which took a lot of work to get out. Another issue that Dad wanted to fix was the valve seals...
The Blue Whale - Restoring a 1975 Travco Motorhome: September 2008

Thursday, 18 September 2008. The problem with these hoses is they take a lot of storage space. A significant volume of the couch storage compartment is taken by the hoses. Under the sink, the way the two other hoses are hooked to the furnace limits storage as well. So Dad decided to do something about this. This is the old hose adapter that connects to the furnace:. Here's a new adapter Dad made:. Dad painting the duct before installation:. Under the couch before installation:. Same cabinet, new adapter:.
The Blue Whale - Restoring a 1975 Travco Motorhome: November 2008
http://bluetravco.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, 8 November 2008. The Blue Whale's 2008 camping season officially ended after the Thanksgiving weekend on Oct 11, 12 and 13th. Just like last year, the last camping trip was at cousin Roger's place, in the Beauce region, about 120 km south of Quebec City. This post will also be my last for 2008, I will resume posting next spring. Then Dad laid a geotextile fabric, and covered it with a good mesure of 3/4in gravel, all hand shoveled and carried from the street with his wheelbarrow. I managed ...
The Blue Whale - Restoring a 1975 Travco Motorhome: August 2009
http://bluetravco.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, 22 August 2009. A lot of stuff! As promised, finally an update on pretty much everything that was done on the Blue Whale since last spring. Enough stuff and pictures (don't forget to click to enlarge) to keep you busy reading for some time! Last spring, Dad found a small water leak under the bed, in the compartment that houses the water heater and the water pump. Any respectable RV must have stabilizer jacks, right? If not, what do you think happends when you. in the motorhome? Dad added some w...
The Blue Whale - Restoring a 1975 Travco Motorhome: A dream come true
http://bluetravco.blogspot.com/2007/05/dream.html
Friday, 18 May 2007. A dream come true. A dream come true. Dad finally bought what he's been dreaming of for years: a 1975 Travco model 270 Class A motorhome. That' right, 1975. No, the thing is not exactly new. The beast needs quite a bit of work. So I created this blog to document all the work Dad is going to put in his new toy. But first, some explanations: why would someone go through the pain of restoring a 30 year old motorhome? You need to know my father:. Your project is inspiring and fun to watc...

travco: First trip.......the good, the bad and the ugly!
http://thetravco.blogspot.com/2010/09/first-tripthe-good-bad-and-ugly.html
Tuesday, September 7, 2010. First trip.the good, the bad and the ugly! I decided to take the Travco on a trip to Camden, Maine for an extended Labor Day vacation. It might have been optimistic on my part but I trusted that all the work done by Henry's Diesel, in Westport, Massachusetts, would make it road worthy for this trip. That was my first mistake. I loaded up the dogs, who were as excited as I was. Took off and stopped at the local station for a fill up. Looks good, so far, doesn't it? I stopped fo...
travco: Homeward Bound.... One More Time
http://thetravco.blogspot.com/2010/10/homeward-bound-one-more-time.html
Sunday, October 31, 2010. Homeward Bound. One More Time. Another big day. The Travco was ready to pick up from Frank's Garage in Hampton, NH. I had left it with Frank over Labor Day weekend. I was on my way to Maine with my 5 dogs and hoped to enjoy my first trip. Unfortunately, I ran into an overheating problem. I had my son Todd, who lives in Providence, RI, pick me up at the ferry and we headed North. Todd has a new car that he is really proud off, a Dodge Challenger. Here is Todd at the wheel. The Tr...

La Baleine Bleue - Rénovation d'un motorisé Travco 1975, modèle 270: juillet 2015
http://travco.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Mardi 7 juillet 2015.
http://travco.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Jeudi 5 novembre 2009.

The Blue Whale - Restoring a 1975 Travco Motorhome
Monday, 27 June 2016. New hot water heater. The Travco was without a hot water heater since the old heater was removed because it was leaking. It's not that a water heater is an absolute necessity. One can live very well without one - as long as you don't feel like taking a shower in your own shower! Dad wanted to put in a standard, propane-heated water heater in the Blue Whale, like in any RV. The thing is, these units are quite expensive. So Dad was waiting for a good deal. Dad installed added a winter...
