Sunday, February 21, 2010. Peanut 2 @10 Weeks. Monica's at 10 weeks. 1/4 of the way through. Peanut 2 is now the size of a small strawberry. Feet are 2mm long. Neck is beginning to take shape. Body muscles are almost developed. Movement beginning. Ears and nose can be seen, or could if we had our own ultrasound machine. Coolest, maybe: Fingerprints are already evident in the skin. Amazing to think how quickly we are formed. We are over the moon. Take care of each other. Hi Tate,. XOX Ano and Baba.

Saturday, March 13, 2010. Peanut 2 @ Twelve Weeks. Nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and synapses are forming furiously. The face looks much more human: eyes have moved from the sides to the front of the head, and ears are now on the sides of the head. Today we explored Sterling and Soldotna, and took a drive out on Funny Road. It was the first of many attempts at seeing a lynx. We drove for miles, scanning the landscape, looking for signs of the elusive big cat. Though we didn’t see a lynx today, we saw something spectacular. I feel lucky to have witnessed what we did, and on my first day back to Alaska! Links to this post.
