Space opera, from a certain angle, in the sense that there are spaceships, planetary invasions and shoot-outs on shuttlecraft. It felt like rather more than that, and the core of the plot is built around something else entirely. Says the first draft of the next one's almost done, so probably only a year or so to wait).

It's our second move in six months, as we sold our old house and moved into a short-term rental nearby while we found somewhere to buy. In fact, it's been such a strange day that instead of thinking "I really ought to post something on LiveJournal" and then failing utterly to do that, I seem to have managed my first post in almost five years.
