Bowlder Huntin': Shoe gazing
http://bowlderhuntin.blogspot.com/2015/04/shoe-gazing.html
On the hunt in New Mexico. Thursday, April 9, 2015. Ok time for one of those self-conscious, self-aggrandizing posts, the type which almost always appear after the 3rd or 4th year of keeping a blog. What is this blog anyway? Where did it start? Where did it go? I strongly recommend you skip this and wait for the next post if you just want to see pics of cool new boulders. Ok hopefully a couple new posts about Roy and Posos will be following shortly! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Time spent in Hueco.

Bowlder Huntin': Roy & Nosos
http://bowlderhuntin.blogspot.com/2015/02/roy-nosos.html
On the hunt in New Mexico. Monday, February 23, 2015. Managed to get out to Roy and Nosos the last month, despite having to roll with some pretty variable weather. Snow storms one week, hot and sunny the next. Rinse, repeat. In a sense this is pretty typical NM, but wild variability seems more like a function of spring more than winter. Anyway, we could climb outside, so that's all that counts right? Alright I think those are enough words for this post, here's some pics. Next month Eric Bissell. Fresh ou...

Bowlder Huntin': The Odyssey and The Ripple Project
http://bowlderhuntin.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-odyssey-and-ripple-project.html
On the hunt in New Mexico. Thursday, March 26, 2015. The Odyssey and The Ripple Project. I could write plenty, but I won't - just keep it short and sweet. My friends Eric Bissell and Keenan Takahashi are visiting from California, a much-awaited return especially for Mr Bissell! Expect a video in due course. These two hard problems are up there with the best in the state, and to be honest, the best in the country. In less newsworthy events I sent a couple of my V7 personal projects up there too! Well 2014...

Bowlder Huntin': Puddle Jumper
http://bowlderhuntin.blogspot.com/2015/02/puddle-jumper.html
On the hunt in New Mexico. Monday, February 9, 2015. Sweet V7 right in the entrance area of the Jumbles in Roy. Thanks to Jesse Johnston for the gif. Location: Roy, NM, USA. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). New Mexico Bouldering Guidebook. New Mexico Bouldering Guide. Promote Your Page Too. I dont know how the bouldering in Roy got discovered. I can only assume it involved some visionary state inspired by a Shamanica. Time spent in Hueco. La Madera AKA Nosos. Where The Cows Drink.

Bowlder Huntin': Return to Roy
http://bowlderhuntin.blogspot.com/2013/10/return-to-roy.html
On the hunt in New Mexico. Monday, October 7, 2013. So a weekend trip that starts with seeing a baby bear, ends with driving back by tarantulas crawling on the side of road, with a smashed rear window, and in between involves climbing on one of the biggest and honestly most amazing roofs I have ever seen anywhere, is worth writing a blog post about. This is Roy, a wild and obscure climbing destination where adventure is guaranteed! Amy on an awesome V1 ("Long Ass"). In the Megaroof - Dust Bowl V6. A roof...

Bowlder Huntin': Roy Bouldering!
http://bowlderhuntin.blogspot.com/2013/04/roy-bouldering.html
On the hunt in New Mexico. Sunday, April 28, 2013. The existence of Roy's bountiful Dakota sandstone was teasingly flashed to the public via Climbing.com. Several years ago, and certainly succeeded in getting many climbers interested, desperate even, to know about this unknown area. Fast forward a few years and some more lingering moments of exposure of this area now abound ( Here. Myself, I found out about Roy from Noah Kaufman's adventures. Of the Rockies. What's that about? Well I didnt get pictures o...

Bowlder Huntin': Cactus Heaven
http://bowlderhuntin.blogspot.com/2012/09/cactus-heaven.html
On the hunt in New Mexico. Sunday, September 23, 2012. Warm up area had a couple of neat problems. Andrew topping out here. Ryan on something harder. After many years of "maturing" my miuras are finally hitting their peak performance. EDIT: There is now a guide to the area on MP, as editing by Rich Strang, see:. Bowlder Huntin': Ape Index
http://bowlderhuntin.blogspot.com/2014/08/ape-index.html
On the hunt in New Mexico. Friday, August 22, 2014. The V Man - probably wouldn't be pulling down V hard with a classically neutral Ape Index. Not just in rock climbing, swimmers and boxers claim a competitive advantage too. But I am a scientist - I demand data! Michael Phelps (swimmer) 3". Sonny Liston (boxer) 11.5". Manute Bol (very very tall basketball player) 11". Iker Casillas (goalkeeper) 4". More climbers ape indices here. Negatives of a positive ape index? A genetic disorder that creates long lim...
