The Adventures Of BookGirl. Tween, Teen and YA. Trips", Displays and More. Trips, Displays and more. Make every visit a new experience. Trips", Fun Displays and more. Touch and Learn Table. I enjoy coming up with new and exciting activities for kids and families to do and see at the library. I believe, like most librarians, that the library is more than books. It is a place where kids will get their very own passport and take a "trip" to destinations like Australia one week, and Paris the next!

The Adventures Of BookGirl. Tween, Teen and YA. Trips", Displays and More. What's happening and what's new in this library-life. Back to Basics with Apps. Kick off in about a month which means it's time to get my head back in the game after summer reading. App Yes it has a charge, but when you think about the cost vs. the application for this in storytime it is PRICELESS. I can not WAIT to use this to introduce weekly themes, etc. I never imagined I could use an app for puppets! Proudly powered by Weebly.

The Adventures Of BookGirl. Tween, Teen and YA. Trips", Displays and More. What's happening and what's new in this library-life. Is nearly here and I'm up to my eyeballs in pinterest pages. I am thinking of those masks for our teens, as well as bringing in some real-life heroes for a weekly "Hero Hangout", in addition to the many programs and activities we will have on hand. What are some of your summer reading plans and activities? Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Tween, Teen and YA.

The Adventures Of BookGirl. Tween, Teen and YA. Trips", Displays and More. What's happening and what's new in this library-life. Why oh why must they be dying? Cancer. Teen books. They seem to go hand and hand these days. The newest cancer- book- to- movie is. Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl. I haven't read it, and I won't now that I saw the trailer. Despite the sad and macabre topic, the movie adaptation looks absolutely amazing! I simply wish it wasn't cancer. It's bound to go where. The Fault In Our Stars.

LibraryLaura: July 2015

http://librarylaura.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 29, 2015. What Pet Should I Get? Yesterday I did a program to celebrate the release of the new Dr. Seuss book, What Pet Should I Get? It was really fun! Over the winter, while I was home on disability, my colleague found out about the book's big release. During a phone conversation one day, she asked me if I'd like to do a program to celebrate it and, naturally, I said yes. And told them to make an animal. Whatever animal they wanted. As a sample, I'd made a cat, (side-note about ...Some ...

LibraryLaura: March 2015

http://librarylaura.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Discover Picture Book Art. Yesterday afternoon I missed out on yet another. Program that I enthusiastically planned out and was looking forward to doing. Yet, despite that, I'm feeling pretty good! I think I can finally see a light at the end of the disability tunnel. I've still got a few weeks to go, but the light is finally, a little bit, shining. I guess it was some time during my description of enthusiastically reusing garbage, when my colleague suggested taking it up a notch...

LibraryLaura: Super Hero Training Camp

http://librarylaura.blogspot.com/2015/07/super-hero-training-camp.html

Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Super Hero Training Camp. This past Saturday, my coworker and I had our Super Hero Training Camp program and it was awesome. While it took a lot of planning, a lot of shopping, and a lot of setting up, it was totally worth it. And although the turnout was smaller than I'd have liked, the kids that did. Come had a great time. Plus, I think the smaller crew was easier to manage, since a program like this automatically riles everyone up. The certificates can be downloaded here!

LibraryLaura: May 2015

http://librarylaura.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Books n Play for Pre-K 5/27/15. I wasn't going to write about Books n Play for Pre-K again for a while but since every session is so different, I felt inspired today. Last week my theme was dinosaurs and it included digging for "fossils" in a sandbox, which was really fun! This afternoon the theme was food, which is a theme I've done before but haven't done often or in a long time. First, I read Hi, Pizza Man! By Eric Litwin and James Dean, which I guess isn't really that. Shout ...

LibraryLaura: Recommended Storytime Books by Topic

http://librarylaura.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html

Recommended Storytime Books by Topic. I wanted to keep a running list of the books I use (successfully) in storytimes. I'm definitely forgetting some, but I'll be adding to this list regularly. It's organized by topic, so hopefully librarians (including me! Will be able to use it as a quick reference when it's time start when planning a storytime. This will be a forever-ongoing list. B = Recommended for babies. P = Recommended for pre-schoolers. S = Recommended for school-age kids. Brett, Jan - The Mitten.

LibraryLaura: August 2015

http://librarylaura.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Had my Aussie Taste-Test. Originally scheduled to be an Australia Party for Australia Day (January 26), then rescheduled due to snow for February 17, and then cancelled completely because of my car accident, this program was a long time coming. In the early planning stages of the original January 26th program, I ordered a massive quantity of Australian goodies from Aussie Food Shop. And stuck it in the schedule for August! And it really happened! Served on butter crackers).

LibraryLaura: Hi & Noon Year's Eve Party

http://librarylaura.blogspot.com/2015/01/hi-noon-years-eve-party.html

Monday, January 5, 2015. Hi and Noon Year's Eve Party. Or, in the case of this blog post, Happy Noon Year! It's 2015 and it's about time I started a librarian blog. I'll introduce myself quickly first, then get on with the Noon Year's Eve stuff. My Noon Year's Eve Party was, to throw all modesty aside for a second, a roaring success. It was just perfect- really- it just worked out great on the first try! I also had a backdrop ( this one from Oriental Trading. Here's a picture of the room set up:. But wit...

Monday, April 20, 2015. Collage Workshop BONUS Happy News! Last week I missed out on yet another. Program that I was really looking forward to. This one is super easy and also super Earth-friendly. Plus it's even a crowd pleaser! I bring you Collage Workshop. I did this program once last summer and I was really excited about bringing it back. It's genuinely as easy as this:. Old magazines scissors glue blank paper. There's not a lot to say- that's the whole program, but it's great! Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
