Knitorama: January 2015
http://pollyknitorama.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 25, 2015. I thought, why make a present for a friend's birthday when I can give her the ingredients to make it herself, and dress it up as a 'learning-to-knit' chance? By which time I'd already rolled the second skein into a ball to make it easier to knit with. So, I'm now knitting a second hat and may keep it myself/may give it as a present. I baked a loaf of bread for the first time in months. It has a very short crumb (is that correct? We had a Star Wars film afternoon and our friends ...

Knitorama: October 2014
http://pollyknitorama.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 30, 2014. About 2-3 months ago I noticed I could no longer read close-up. I thought it had happened suddenly, however when I went to get my eyes tested a couple of weeks ago the optician told me I was typical for a woman in her 40s. Hagos came with me to the optician, and photographed me trying out lots. Of different frames. I was beginning to think the perfect frames may not be out there for me, but then I tried on the above pair. As soon as I put them on they just looked right. This i...

Knitorama: The YELLOW jumper
http://pollyknitorama.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-yellow-jumper.html
Friday, April 10, 2015. I didn't quite appreciate, while knitting this jumper, just how YELLOW it was. I suppose all the other TV jumpers I've knitted have had some relief in them - mohair stripes, or blocks of different colours. But this is. Just. Yellow. [ Rowan, pure wool, 4-ply.]. I have since come to a dead end with knitting. I've fallen out of love with Rowan wool (and long. Fallen out of love with Rowan patterns). They don't have enough basic 4-ply or DK. And they are altogether too pricey. Turnél...

Knitorama: Holiday
http://pollyknitorama.blogspot.com/2015/01/holiday.html
Friday, January 02, 2015. I wanted a holiday from the world over Christmas/New Year, and apart from partaking in Christmas Day familial celebrations that's what I've had. I've had the best part of three weeks off work, and it was much-needed and SO good. Good to turn off the work chatter and remember who I am. And good to POTTER, and let the days drift. I knitted a few Christmas baubles. They're addictive and satisfying. I have cut out the linings of the three other skirts and hope to finish one or two m...

Knitorama: August 2014
http://pollyknitorama.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 31, 2014. A new item to make. I cycled to Tesco today to buy essentials (chocolate and cat food). There's an almost direct cycle path as I'm not keen to cycle on the road. I love cycling, and it gave me a chance to use my bicycle basket. I had a lovely three days off. Looking forward to next Thursday night. Sunday, August 24, 2014. Today I decided to sew together all the outers for my four skirts. I'd already done one, and spent the morning sewing the other three. And to finish, a gratuito...

Knitorama: Sewing
http://pollyknitorama.blogspot.com/2015/02/sewing.html
Sunday, February 22, 2015. The Delphine skirt I completed a couple of weeks ago. I really love it. Tilly's instructions are so clear and well laid out, the skirt came together quickly and easily. I didn't have much of a choice of colours in the Edinburgh fabric shop I went to, so I thought I would choose this beigey-yellow for work as I have a cardigan in a similar colour. Knitorama: Sewing, mostly.
http://pollyknitorama.blogspot.com/2015/08/i-have-almost-finished-knitting-my.html
Sunday, August 02, 2015. I have almost finished knitting my cardigan Ysolda's Chikadee. I just have to knit the rib, which trims the entire garment, and it's finished. For someone who hates sewing knitted items together, this design has been a dream. It's knitted in one piece. No front, back and sleeves. It starts at the neck and finishes at the rib, and it's ready to wear! I almost had enough material to make a second flamingo top, but not quite! So I found the peacock feather (what I call my Turkey fea...

Dreamy Tulle circle skirts — Vertigo Go
http://www.vertigogodesigns.ca/home/2016/3/12/dreamy-tulle-circle-skirts
A sewing, fashion design, and lifestyle blog! Dreamy Tulle circle skirts. March 18, 2016. It's been a ghost town here for more than a month but I assure you I've been busy. Let's start one project at a time though! A while back the lovely Katryna of Boots and Cats. Seriously love her blog! Contacted me about making some ballerina-esque tulle skirts for herself and the equally awesome Marielle. They're part of the Lux Beauty Boutique. The problem with tulle though is that it's a thin little bugger. I ...

Bettine dress (not a success) | Owl Laughing
http://www.owllaughing.com/2015/09/08/bettine-dress-not-a-success
I'm learning to sew. Slowly. Bettine dress (not a success). September 8, 2015. Be warned, this is a post about an unsuccessful make. I considered not writing about this dress at all or (and I’m embarrassed to admit this) choosing photos in which it looks better than it really does. But I want to keep this blog honest. By Tilly and the Buttons. 4 (bust) / 3 (waist and hips). A the fit of the bodice is wrong and I don’t have the skills to fix it;. It’s not even the review itself, but the discussion i...

Delphi Maxi Dress – Design By Lindsay
http://www.lindsaywoodward.com/2015/05/delphi-maxi-dress.html
May 7, 2015. Last month, Art Gallery Fabrics. Contacted me to see if I’d be interested in reviewing some fabric from their new knit solids line. Of course I was interested! I know AGF makes some stunning printed quilting cottons, so I was curious to see what their knits were like. Obviously I have a bit of a thing for Named. What with my recent makes of two pairs of Jamie Jeans. That’s almost finished, and an Asaka Kimono. The pattern was straight-forward and fairly quick to sew, with good instructions&#...
