The theme photo this week features Finnish radio engineers on top of a broadcast van. So what have I got in my collection that might match? The truck used by Sims Bros general store to deliver goods throughout the Mitiamo district. Neil Phelan and the Sims Bros delivery truck. Doug Phelan and Pluto, Mitiamo. The Mo...

Wirreandah Wandering: May 2015
http://turnerstreettopics.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Snippets, snaps and family stories from the past. Friday, 29 May 2015. Missing my Sepia Saturdays. The photo above and the next two were taken on a visit to Hampton Court Palace a few years ago, and show the basic but naturally large, well-equipped and working palace kitchens. Those are real pork pies in the photo, that visitors could sample in the cafeteria. Our son Strahan looked the part in the professional kitchen while taking a cooking unit as part of his business degree in Hotel Management, but unf...

Backtracking: Bondi Beach
http://boobookbacktracks.blogspot.com/2015/07/bondi-beach.html
Research about our family's history in Australia, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Genealogy is much, much more than names and dates. Saturday, July 25, 2015. One disadvantage of our beach visits was that we didn't have surf lifesavers watching, we didn't have to swim 'inside the flags' (note the red and yellow flag on the left of the first photo), but luckily none of us ever had a mishap in the ocean. This beach is the home of the first lifesaving club, established in 1907. July 25, 2015 at 5:27 PM.

Bob's Home For Writing: Kicking your heels on a wall - Sepia Saturday
http://bobscotney.blogspot.com/2015/05/kicking-you-heels-on-wall-sepia-saturday.html
Bob's Home For Writing. Thursday, 7 May 2015. Kicking your heels on a wall - Sepia Saturday. This week's prompt with a damaged picture. Made me look for photographs that have been hidden away for years. During WWII a young girl had her photo taken. This had ghostly stripes where light had crept in. After the war was over our little girl appears again on another shot that we can date to:. Pat, Mary and Margaret - 1947. That's for you to work out. The wall, she says, belonged to this old building,. Some of...

Wirreandah Wandering: Hotel des Glaciers, Butlin's or Club Med, your choice!
http://turnerstreettopics.blogspot.com/2015/07/snow-or-sea.html
Snippets, snaps and family stories from the past. Wednesday, 29 July 2015. Hotel des Glaciers, Butlins or Club Med, your choice! Hotels seem to be the flavour of this Sepia Saturday month, almost. Of course it is still summer holiday time in the northern hemisphere, unlike down here in Australia where it's rather wild and wintery, and way too chilly for either swimming or sunbaking, but we can look forward to warmer days to come. The note from Pat's friend Margie McP reads as follows:. You're the man pay...

Discovering my Cape Breton and County Down ancestors through sepia photographs, anecdotes and poetry. Dig in, Flynn! Photos by Mark Jenkins. November 14, 2013. Sepia Saturday #203: The Woman in Black is back. Ghostly treatment of a mysterious photo. Who is this lady? I am not sure I will ever know. In my family-search on my father's side, I have come up with a few theories. She might be my father's grandmother, Margaret (Maggie) Maglenon (born 1856, death unknown), in her later years. Here's what the pho...

Larry's Sepia Saturday: Horsepower or Powered by Horse.......
http://burgussepiesaturday.blogspot.com/2015/01/horsepower-or-powered-by-horse.html
A COLLECTION OF FAMILY PICTURES, SOME OLDER THAN OTHERS, A PLACE TO START FIGURING OUT MY FAMILY TREE. HEY, HOW DID THAT FUNNY LOOKING GUY GET IN THERE? Friday, January 23, 2015. Horsepower or Powered by Horse. You had to feed your powered buggy as the automobile was not readily available to purchase. The doctor would make his calls by horse and buggy no matter what the weather would be. As you can see this buggy did have a overhead to pull up to protect the driver from the falling elements. A good remin...
