Paul and Muireann's Travel Diary. Round-the-world travels: Jan 8 '04 to mid July '04 (a.k.a. www.pauljsheahan.com and www.muireann.net). Wednesday, July 07, 2004. Using our diary, I calculated that in the past six months we have actually slept in 85 different beds a considerable 27 of which were on a plane, a bus, a train or a boat! That figure fascinates me for some reason it sort of drives home the massive distances we've covered. Well I certainly appreciate home comforts! The end of all our exploring.

Paul and Muireann's Travel Diary. Round-the-world travels: Jan 8 '04 to mid July '04 (a.k.a. www.pauljsheahan.com and www.muireann.net). Friday, January 30, 2004. Just down from a one-day climb of one of the active volcanos here in the Chilean Lake District, Volcan Villaricca. It was great fun and a very clear and sunny day for it! It is slightly disconcerting though to see steam rising from the top of the mountain which you're climbing, knowing that there's real lava bubbling in the crater! The visit ha...

Paul and Muireann's Travel Diary. Round-the-world travels: Jan 8 '04 to mid July '04 (a.k.a. www.pauljsheahan.com and www.muireann.net). Tuesday, April 27, 2004. Airlie Beach, Australia. The difference in the climate between Alice Springs and the northern coast of Queensland on the east coast of Australia could not be greater. Where Alice is in the middle of the desert, hot and dry as a bone, it has rained almost non-stop during our two days in Cairns while remaining hot and humid throughout. On a side n...

For the unacclimatised visitor one of the hardest things to get used to in Vietnam (not counting the squat toilets! Is the constant attention lavished upon you as a visiting "Westerner". We may as well walk down the street with a huge $. During a museum visit yesterday one man repeatedly pointed at me, laughed and then passed comment (in Vietnamese...

We have spent the last 48 hours staring at the Iguazú Falls from a hundred different angles, and two countries. These mighty falls separate Brazil from Argentina take their name from the Guaraní words. S cousin to the mellifluous sounds of Mariconi's sound-track to. Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh. Isabel Allende's The House of the Spirits. Is a stunning and fantastical story spanning 4 generations of life, death, suffering, and joy. Above all, it inspires belief that the human spirit can somehow survive and transcend the atrocities of violent revolution and dictatorship. Posted by Muireann : 9:39 pm. Friday, December 19, 2003. Despite the strong gusty wind at take off in Wellington, the breeze was on our tail for the rest of the journey. The odd tummy-lurch aside, we were for the most part able to sit back and enjoy the view of mountains, fjords and sea. There was more tummy-lurching today on our Dolphin Encounter. Anyway, after about ten minute...

This coupled with a half-hour trip each way from the village to Cave Lodge on a rented 125cc scooter which I loved (and Muireann hated) has given me my fill of adrenaline for the week I think! Posted by Paul Sheahan : 5:03 pm. Monday, June 28, 2004. Mae Hong Son, Thailand. Had some serious Michael Schumacher ambitions. The road was extremely ...
