Thursday, December 30, 2010. The day we left CHC, we felt several tremors. I had felt a few during the night. Alison said she thought it was about a 4.6. It was in the city centre and we heard there was lot more damage than the September quake. We have done three cities and have not been able to get on. Watch for changes. Out in the Wilderness -no internet. Friday, December 24, 2010. On the road on Boxing Day. And lots of beautiful countryside. Sumner from the top of the valley. Fish and chips in Akaroa.

Monday, February 14, 2011. December 27 was our first full day in Oamaru. With the excitement of the penguin colony still in our heads, we gathered for breakfast in the hostel and then Bob, Alison and the kids set off on a bicycle tour of the area while Lolly and I set off on foot to explore the back corners of this little city. How I craved the quick "pump and serve" at Kwiktrip back home. The expression, "Grab a cup of coffee" does not occur much in new Zealand. Around the corner on Harbour Street.
